She is called Lafafi as she sells paper bags made by her mother Bhago and crippled brother Jeevan while her drunkard father Kichchhu whiles away his time in bars. Lafafi gets seduced by an otherwise sympathetic shopkeeper Chaman Lal.
Chaman flees from the town when he faces arrest after refusing to bribe a corrupt doctor. Kichchhu tries to get rid of pregnant Lafafi by marrying her to a retarded man. Lafafi flees from home and is presumed dead.
Chaman joins his friend Gora, a small time travel agent in a metropolitan city. Due to his daring nature and enterprise, he prospers fast as a travel agent and comes to be known as C.L. Suddenly Lafafi appears at his office.
Chaman allows Lafafi to enter his house, but not his life. His employee Komal grooms Lafaafi. Gora helps Chaman in his business and gets attracted towards his sober and good looking employee Anju. Lafaafi gives birth to a male child.
Gora and Anju get into a romantic relationship. Chaman is haunted by memories of his love affair during college days. He reluctantly allows Lafaafi to stay at his house with her child.
Gora brings Lafaafi's family to the city. Lafaafi and Komal save Anju from a dangerous situation.. Chaman gets arrested in adulteration case. Lafaafi proves his innocence but decides to leave his house. Will Chaman let her go?
