Jennifer Burke and Quenton McGrath are expecting another baby and want to extend their three-bed semi-detached which they had already put a lot of money into modernising. Dermot's plan is to redesign the three rooms demolishing the wall between the kitchen and living room, adding a glass extension to create a large sunny kitchen/dining/family area. Half of their garage will be turned into a laundry utility room with the remaining space left untouched for future use.

Dermot is in Enniskerry, with Eimear Lynott and Niall Quinn, who need to revamp their 1970s bungalow which they have been in for six years and is in need of a major restoration. The couple are expecting their first baby so a priority is the addition of a nursery. Dermot's plan is to realign the entry of the house to take account of the fantastic view of the Sugarloaf mountain and countryside views.

Tommy and Anne Breen have lived in the same house in Killiney for 38 years. The couple have six children and have decided that after nearly 4 decades it's time the house that Tommy built had a makeover, especially as he is now wheelchair bound after contracting MS. Dermot will need to come up with a plan that will allow Tommy full access to the whole of his house which is presently restricted by his wheelchair.

Siobhan and Greg Fitzsimmons moved into their house 18 months ago and although they are happy with the space at the front, the rear is a disaster area which is a damp, leaking and freezing cold poorly built extension with a tiny kitchen. They turn to Dermot for help in pulling down the dilapidated rear of the house to create a modern welcoming extension with a new kitchen/diner and a landscaped back garden.

Mary Moore has lived in her house in Rathcoole for 20 years. She loves to cook and entertain but space is limited, the layout is dated and the rooms are cramped and disjointed and she can't interact with guests whilst cooking at the same time. However there is one major problem - the never ending roar of the N7 motorway which disturbs her enjoyment of her conservatory and garden. Dermot plans to re-align the conservatory and lawn away from the N7 and create a new kitchen/living/dining area.

Michael and Bridget Kirwan moved into in a four room cottage in 1985 in Knocktopher, Co. Kilkenny. They now have four children and together the family have outgrown the cramped living spaces. The house no longer works as a family home and Dermot wants to reorganise the space giving the Kirwans four relocated bedrooms, an extension for a new kitchen/dining and living area and sliding doors opening out to a new patio.

Susan McGrath has lived in the same house in Stoneybatter all her life, formerly with her family, but now shares with two flatmates. Every room in the cramped house is tiny and she needs to have the whole place completely redesigned. Fortunately for Susan she has something that most houses in Stoneybatter don't have - a spacious back garden, which Dermot wants to exploit to extend and enlarge the house.

Sean and Joanne Cleere and their three children live in a farmhouse in Templetuohy, Co. Tipperary, but the layout of the rooms doesn't make it a family friendly home. Dermot's plan is to demolish part of the house and build a two storey extension with a flat roof, but Sean wants a sloped roof to match the farmhouse. Also Sean's unauthorised extension of the existing plan means planning permission is now needed, leaving the whole project on hold for at least twelve weeks. A decision is expected in October.
