Robert Davi Releases "New York City Christmas" Single

6 November 2013 1:11 PM, PST | | See recent CinemaRetro news »

Our good friend actor Robert Davi has a sensational second career as a crooner. His Sinatra tribute show is getting rave reviews and the Huffington Post called him "a legend in the making". Now Davi has just released a wonderful new single on CD.  New York City Christmas calls to mind the kind of unapologetically old-fashioned, sentimental holiday songs you just don't hear anymore. If you haven't heard him sing, you're in for a real treat.(We love that cover art by Steve Penley). Here is the official press release:

Los Angeles, CA--Singer/actor Robert Davi will be releasing his forthcoming “New York City Christmas” single for the upcoming holiday season.  The song was recorded at the iconic Capitol Records’ Studio A, where Frank Sinatra, Nat “King” Cole and The Beatles once laid down some of their most memorable work.  Davi recorded “New York City Christmas” with arranger/conductor Chris Walden »

'Pulling Strings' review: Jaime Camil gets a Visa in Mexico City with romance

3 October 2013 5:00 AM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

"Pulling Strings" takes a bit of a hit by being the third Latin single-dad comedy to roll into American theaters in a month. And though it is funnier and out-charms "Tio Papi," it lacks the whimsy, magical realism and kid-friendly sentiment of the sleeper hit "Instructions Not Included."

But this tale of a mariachi singer denied a visa, who then tries to trick and charm the American embassy staffer who turned him down, is a winning vehicle for singer / actor Jaime Camil

Alejandro (Camil) is raising his 9-year-old daughter alone, and fears what the Catholic school nuns are telling him is true -- that he's botching the job. She needs to go spend time with her grandparents. In Arizona.

Having no property, permanent address or passport, he gets little more than the no-eye-contact dismissal from U.S. Embassy functionary Rachel (Laura Ramsey of "No One Lives" and "Kill the Irishman »
