Wonderful exploration of memories
26 June 2009 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

I randomly stumbled upon this. It was packaged up with loads of other shorts and I had some time to kill. Clearly Fate smiled down on me because this is a gem. You see, some shorts want to tell a whole 1.5hr movie in 15 mins and it always goes bad. However, there are a few clever film makers (and writers) who can really pick the crux of a tale and package it together into a wonderful experience. Backstroke does just that.

The actresses are amazing at conveying subtle emotion; the shots are extremely well chosen; the ending is perfect.

I've watched a lot of shorts. A lot. This is in the top 10. Hands down it's a treat.
