Description of program
This program is on Tokyo MX on Sunday nights at 11:00. Each week, Matsushima and Machiyama (a movie critic) present half of a US documentary (once, however, it was _CSA_, a British mock documentary presuming the South had won the Civil War). First, they spend a couple of minutes introducing it, or reviewing the first half shown the previous week, and at the end, they discuss it a bit. On shorter documentaries, or those with more complex subjects, they may break in in the middle with some discussion. Their commentary is all in Japanese. The first documentaries were the most interesting--_The Yes Men_, _Jesus Camp_, _Outfoxed_, _Devil's Playground_, but they may be finding it difficult to keep finding really good documentaries. The biggest problem with the show is that you can only find out what's on by watching it--TV guides here list it under the name Matsushima X Machiyama (松島X町山), without telling what the documentary for any given week is. They do indeed provide movies you're unlikely to see at the theater here--perhaps not in the US, either. Quite useful for one's more advanced English students to get a grasp of US culture.
