Last week we got seven clips from director Ron Howard’s In the Heart of the Sea [watch them here], and now Warner Bros. has debuted a new featurette for the film entitled ‘The Myth of Moby Dick’. Check it out below after the official synopsis…
In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. “Heart of the Sea” reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, as the ship’s surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, »

Over the weekend, Vin Diesel updated fans on the future of his Riddick character, revealing the title of the next film, along with an upcoming television series set in the same universe. Come inside to check it out and see what he had to say!
The Chronicles of Riddick franchise hasn't had the easiest road. After the second film's release, things seemed to be going well for the franchise, with a solid anime release and even a successful video game. Then things went quiet, and the road to Riddick (which hit in 2013) was a long one. Many never thought it would happen, and even when it was set to begin filming, funding completely dropped! Somehow, everything came together and Riddick released, and was generally more enjoyable that the previous film. It's been a couple years, however, and it's been quiet on the science fiction/action series...until now. If you're »

While Chronicles of Riddick had flashes of old fashioned space opera goodness, it was mostly a misstep in a series with two other pretty amazing entries in Pitch Black and Riddick. And even though the last film didn't exactly light the world on fire at the box office, it appears there's a lot more Furian story to tell.
A couple of days ago, Vin Diesel took to Instagram to announce plans for a television show called Merc City and new movie called Furia.
"Last night Our company had a party to launch Our TV division. Very exciting. Merc City is a show that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe. Next Month, Dt begins writing the next Chapter in the Chronicles of Rid [Continued ...] »
Though The Last Witch Hunter may have seen the actor venture off in a new creative direction, Vin Diesel is ensuring that fans of his more prominent roles have plenty to look forward to in the future. Not only will Diesel reprise his role as Xander Cage for long-rumored sequel xXx 3, but the series stalwart has effectively mapped out plans for numerous Fast and Furious spinoffs over at Universal.
Now, according to an Instagram update, Vin Diesel is on the verge of revisiting his role as the deadly, pearl-eyed Furyan for a brand new Riddick movie and spinoff TV series. Welcoming back writer-director David Twohy once again, Diesel noted that the Merc City offshoot will explore the lore of mercenaries and bounty hunters of the grimy sci-fi universe.

Actor Vin Diesel took to his personal Instagram account to announce a new “Riddick” film and a new television series which will revolve around mercenaries and bounty hunters within the “Riddick” universe. Director David Twohy (“Pitch Black”) is said to begin writing the next installment in the “Riddick” franchise next month.
Diesel is presumably spearheading the new television series saying:

Who said acting is nothing more than reciting lines and collecting a paycheck? Sometimes it’s much more than that, with our latest exhibit being Chris Hemsworth (who usually has a stone-chiseled body to portray Marvel superhero Thor) and his emaciated new look he achieved as a form of method acting throughout the duration of filming In the Heart of the Sea.
This isn’t the first time a high-profile actor has shed weight for a role; Christian Bale is no stranger to these extreme lengths of getting into character, especially for the overlooked and under-appreciated film The Machinist.
It goes without saying that radically changing your diet routine like this cannot be healthy, but one must applaud the dedication of the performers and have nothing but utmost respect for sacrificing their health in the name of art. Now someone get Chris Hemsworth a few McDonald’s Big Macs!

Back in January last year, Vin Diesel revealed that Universal Pictures was keen on another instalment in the Riddick franchise, and now the actor has officially announced a fourth film in the series, entitled Furia, along with a TV spinoff Merc City.
“Last night out company had a party to launch our TV division,” said Diesel on Instagram. “Very exciting. Merc City is a show that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick universe. Next month, David Twohy begins writing the next chapter in the Chronicles of Riddick… Furia.”
The franchise launched in 2000 with Pitch Black, and was followed by 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick and 2013’s Riddick, along with the animated shorts The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury and Riddick: Blindsided. The films themselves have only been moderate box office successes, but the franchise has developed a strong cult following.

In 2014, a year after Riddick hit the theater screens across the world, Vin Diesel declared that the franchise was still quite active. And that Universal Pictures was mulling over a possible fourth live-action chapter in this sci-fi saga. Now, a year later, the actor/producer has confirmed that Riddick 4 is moving forward with a new title. That's not all. There will also be a TV show spinoff. This is what the Furious 7 star had to say about the continuation of this franchise on his Instagram page.
"Last night Our company had a party to launch Our TV division. Very exciting. Merc City is a show that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe. Next Month, Dt begins writing the next Chapter in the Chronicles of Riddick... Furia."

Things are about to Riddick-ulous, as it looks like there are going to be a few more Chronicles to add to the list. Vin Diesel recently dropped a big bomb on fans of the Chronicles of Riddick film series and has officially confirmed that there will be a fourth feature installment named Furia, And a TV series being developed to boot! This ominous and vague announcement is a potentially exciting addition to a franchise which, as of now, has been in the film world for a whopping 15 years. Diesel.s character Riddick was first introduced in a lesser-known film Pitch Black, a sleeper hit written and directed by David Twohy. Franchise fans should be happy to learn that Twohy will indeed be back for Furia, as he's currently penning the screenplay, according to Diesel. This fanbase will certainly be useful in helping with TV viewership for the upcoming TV project, »
Vin Diesel is like a bald, muscular Energizer Bunny who kills lots of bad guys. He just doesn't stop. Other than starring roles in the upcoming Furious 9 and XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, Diesel will also be reprising the role that helped him become an action star. The actor announced on Instagram that Riddick, the ass-kicking anti-hero who knows how to hunt and kill people incredibly well despite being sorta blind, will return in a new movie, Furia, written by David Twohy, as well as a series called Merc City "that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe." Ain't no rest for the Diesel. To paraphrase Mr. Kanye West, Diesel would rather be a Riddick than a swallower. »

Vin Diesel's upcoming slate already has a xXx sequel, another Fast & Furious sequel, and a Guardians Of The Galaxy sequel on it, but it looks like that wasn't enough for the fan-favorite star. In an Instagram post from yesterday, Diesel celebrated the launch of One Race Films' television division by announcing a TV series, titled Merc City, which will follow the mercenaries and bounty hunters of the Riddick universe. He didn't share much more, but it's certainly an interesting concept for a series. As an added bonus, he revealed a fourth Chronicles Of Riddick film, titled Furia, is currently in development with David Twohy set to begin work on the script in December. No further details were shared, but judging by the title, there's a relatively good chance the story takes Riddick back to his home planet. Check out his post below: Last night Our company had a »

Diesel's production company will be behind the TV series called "Merc City" and deals with the mercenaries and bounty hunters of the Riddick universe. Here's the posting:
