Ever since the show Battlestar Galactica first aired, Katee Sackhoff had become somewhat of a legend.  While she’s been in plenty of shows and movies since her time on Galactica, she’ll always be remembered for that show as well as be entrenched in Geek culture for eternity.  She was immortalized in Howard’s dream bathtub sequence on “The Big Bang Theory” and had a nice little run on 24. She also had roles in RiddickOculus, Don’t Knock Twice, and the Netflix series Longmire.  Now Sackhoff is back to take on the lead role of Mackenzie “Mack” Wilson.  »

'Fifty Shades Darker' Trivia: Why Christian Grey Has a 'Chronicles of Riddick' Poster in His Childhood Bedroom

9 February 2017 3:00 PM, PST | Movies.com | See recent Movies.com news »

When you watch a movie like Fifty Shades Darker -- the much-hyped sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey, and the second installment in a trilogy to conclude with Fifty Shades Freed next year -- you expect a lot of the conversation to revolve around the hotter moments between Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and Ana Steele (Dakota Johnson), or the delicious romantic intrigue that permeates every corner of the film. Curious fans, however, are very interested in a much smaller part of the film -- a throwaway moment in Christian's childhood bedroom where we see a Chronicles of Riddick poster hanging on the wall. The Chronicles of Riddick, like Fifty Shades Darker, is the second film in a three-part series, and it stars Vin Diesel as a highly skilled predator and member of a warrior race...

Interview: Katee Sackhoff Discusses Don’T Knock Twice, Riddick & Rescuing Baby Hedgehogs

3 February 2017 4:16 PM, PST | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Katee Sackhoff is known for playing kick-ass characters who can take on even the most menacing mercenary, but her character in Don’t Knock Twice faces a different kind of threat: herself. Wrestling with personal demons, Sackhoff’s Jess shows how powerful love can be when a witch threatens to tear her daughter away forever. With Don’t Knock Twice out today in theaters and on VOD and HD Digital from IFC Midnight, Daily Dead spoke with Sackhoff about bringing out Jess’ vulnerability and strengths, rescuing baby hedgehogs near the set, and how she’d love to reprise her role as Dahl in another Riddick movie (even if she had to win a dance-off to make it happen).

Thank you for taking the time to talk about Don’t Knock Twice. What was it about the role of Jess that struck you and interested you in this story?

Tom Holland grades Spider-Man: Homecoming suit

Superhero costumes may look awesome, but apparently are not always the most comfortable thing in the world to wear. Shortlist (via ComicBook) asked Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland to grade the web-slinging suit in terms of comfort on a scale from 1 to 10.

“A solid three,” replied Holland. “It’s not comfy but it’s the Spider-Man outfit – it’s the coolest thing ever. You look like a badass and feel like a gangster. The best thing is wearing it meeting kids – they genuinely think you have superpowers.”

While last weekend's new releases failed to energize the box office, two of this week's new titles will top the weekend chart. M. Night Shyamalan's latest thriller, Split, and the return of Vin Diesel in the title role of xXx: Return of Xander Cage are both looking to score $20+ million openings while Hidden Figures and La La Land look to continue to capture audience attention amid their already-strong domestic runs. Additionally, this weekend features the release of The Founder into just over one thousand theaters and High Top releasing brings The Resurrection of Gavin Stone into 887 theaters as it hopes to attract the attention of the faith-based audience. At the top of the weekend box office expect to find M. Night Shyamalan's Split. xXx: The Return of Xander Cage review – Vin Diesel goes full throttle in action-movie silliness

18 January 2017 4:01 PM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

After being killed off, Diesel’s lumbering lunkhead Xander Cage returns for another helping of goofy action that’s rooted in the absurd 1990s mode

Vin Diesel’s plump-necked, vest-wearing action hombre Xander “XXX” Cage has come lumbering back onto the big screen, delivering sleepy zingers in that growly laryngeal voice, for the first time since 2002. Sadly, it’s the least anticipated franchise renewal imaginable. Only the release of a new Police Academy film could cause less excitement. But Vin, great ridiculous beefcake lunk that he is, does provide us with some fun.

Diesel became the action genre’s lost hero after the first XXX film, in which he played the skateboarding XXX-treme sports guy recruited by Samuel L Jackson to fight for justice. Then he got killed off for the 2005 sequel when Diesel’s fee demands got reportedly XXX-cessive and he was ignominiously replaced by Ice Cube. From then on, »
