It has been 25 years since "When Harry Met Sally," the ultimate can-men-and-women-be-just-friends romantic comedy, hit theatres, and as we've recently discussed, few films of that sort have matched it in that time. But lately Hollywood has been taking a crack at that unique premise with mixed results, most notably with "Friends With Benefits" and "No Strings Attached," both released within months of each other and both not very good. So "Goon" and "Fubar" director Michael Dowse has a high bar to reach with "What If," and while the movie doesn't even make it to the same ballpark as the Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan classic, there's enough pleasure and small charms within its modest ambitions that it succeeds in putting an enjoyable spin on what has often proved a tired concept. While authenticity might be too strong a word, "What If" presents a world that feels inhabited by real characters in a real city (the. »

Suggested alternate title: Love in the Time of Cynicism.
From the moment you see Jimmy Shive-Overly (Chris Geere) taking pictures of his junk during a wedding toast, it’s pretty clear You’re the Worst doesn’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. To wit, Jimmy is mid-waltz with the bride—his ex—when he informs her he’s only come to her wedding to gawk at the imminent “disaster” of love and marriage.

As a general rule, I’m a big believer in cinema moving forward. It’s vital for an artform to constantly renew and reinvigorate itself, in order to remain interesting and avoid stagnation. That’s why bold and visionary filmmakers are so important. To date, the writer and director of Reach Me – John Herzfeld – has been neither of those things (2 Days In The Valley, anyone?), but the new trailer for his latest movie suggests a move in a new, more intriguing direction.
The film is about a large collection of characters and their respective connections to a self-help book – titled ‘Reach Me’ – written by a reclusive author, played by Tom Berenger. Now, here’s the thing – it would seem that while this film represents the all-important forward motion for helmer Herzfeld, it may also prove to be the opposite for many in its cast – and that’s just fine. Trapped in a realm of eternal darkness called “The Further”, a host of demons are desperate to get out… and need to possess a human body in order to escape their eternal torment. The Lambert family has fended off malicious forces from beyond on more than one occasion in the Insidious film franchise, and with Insidious Chapter 3 set for release next April, the prisoners of The Further will likely try to break into our world again. The third entry in the horror franchise is beginning to take shape with the first casting news.
Deadline reports that actress Stefanie Scott (TV’s A.N.T. Farm, No Strings Attached) has signed on to star in Insidious Chapter 3, due out in theaters on April 3rd, 2015. Both the film’s plot details and Stefanie’s character outline are unknown at this time. The actress is also appearing in another Blumhouse Productions project that might please »

No plot details have been released at this time, although it was confirmed last month that Leigh Whannell is writing and directing the sequel, taking over the directorial reins from Insidious and Insidious Chapter 2 director James Wan.
It isn't known if Insidious and Insidious Chapter 2 stars Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Ty Simpkins, Lin Shaye, Barbara Hershey and Angus Sampson will reprise their roles for the sequel, or if Leigh Whannell will return as paranormal investigator Specs. Our report from last month revealed that production will begin on July 7.
Looks like Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson are through being haunted. Though the duo starred in the ultra-successful horror flick Insidious and its sequel, Insidious: Chapter 3 will bring new blood to the franchise. Today, it was announced that Stefanie Scott, who will also star in Blumhouse’s upcoming Jem and the Holograms and has appeared on the Disney sitcom A.N.T. Farm, is taking on the leading role in the threequel.
Scott is the first star to be announced for this film. No doubt the actress’s work on the aforementioned Jon M. Chu-directed ’80s cartoon adaptation, which is currently in production, is what won her the role. Scott’s other projects have included romantic coming-of-age drama Flipped and sex comedy No Strings Attached.
Plot details are currently being kept under wraps, but it’s presumed that the shadowy demon who menaced the Lamberts in the first and second »

One of the problems with romantic comedies that ask questions like “Can men and women just be friends?” or “Can friends have sex without it becoming romantic?” is that, no matter how subversive things might get along the way, the answer is almost always “No.” Movies like Friends With Benefits, When Harry Met Sally and No Strings Attached have tried to break the mold, but ultimately Hollywood romantic comedies always end up gravitating towards a happy ending where the couple falls into each other’s arms.
It would be nice to think that What If - a new romantic comedy starring Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks) – will have the guts to break this pattern. Based on the new trailer, however, it seems likely to follow a more traditional formula. Radcliffe plays Wallace, ...

Source: Getty Maybe it's his modeling roots or his techie smarts or his hot Hollywood roles, but whatever it is, Ashton Kutcher is one crushable heartthrob we can't ignore. Unfortunately, fans won't be seeing him in his latest role much longer, as news that Two and a Half Men was canceled recently broke, marking yet another turn on the emotional roller coaster of loving Ashton. He first captured our attention as That '70s Show's quirky Kelso, he confused us a bit with Dude, Where's My Car?, and we found ourselves swooning over and over again thanks to A Lot Like Love, No Strings Attached, and his many handsome red carpet appearances. Whether you're a die-hard fan or not quite convinced of Ashton's crush appeal, take a look at the sweet, shirtless, and sometimes awkward moments that make up more than 15 years of Ashton Kutcher fandom. »

It's April 30, y'all, which means...It's gonna be May! Justin Timberlake's been reminding us about the fifth month of the calendar year since 2000 when 'N Sync released their hit song "It's Gonna Be Me." This pop classic—the second single from the guys' No Strings Attached album—doesn't actually contain any seasonal references, but young, 19-year-old (!) Justin's delivery of, "it's gonna be me," was misheard (or perhaps mocked?) by the mainstream. Because J.T. wasn't always the stylish, suit and tie-wearing gentleman we know him as today, it's kind of fun to look back at when he first sang this lyric. The memes speak for »
After intense Internet speculation, the first casting choices for the Jem and Holograms movie are out. So, who will be our pink-haired leading lady? The title role of the exciting, adventurous Jerrica "Jem" Benton will be portrayed by Nashville actress Aubrey Peeples. Relative newcomers Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau and Hayley Kiyoko have signed on to play Jem's Hologram bandmates. News of the reboot first hit the Web earlier this year, when Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never director Jon M. Chu announced the project. The original '80s cartoon tells the neon-hued tale of Starlight Music Manager Jerrica, »

Meatballs, Stripes, Ghostbusters and Dave are four of Ivan Reitman‘s films that have stood the test of time. When Reitman was on top of his game, the now 67-year-old filmmaker hit grand slams. I’m not using these sports metaphors because his latest film, Draft Day, includes the NFL Draft, but because, like athletes, some directors have hot streaks and cold streaks. For an array of reasons, slumps happen. Reitman’s lasted 18 years. After Dave he directed Junior, Father’s Day, Evolution, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, and Six Days, Seven Nights. A few of those films had glimmers of hope that Reitman hadn’t lost his touch, but during those years, only as a producer was he making quality movies. People generally focus on the films that proceeded Dave, not Old School, Up in the Air, I Love You, Man and Private Parts, and one of those acclaimed films he came close to directing. “It »

Talk about tearin' up the hearts of 'N Sync fans everywhere. The story stated that the popular boy band would be releasing "a greatest hits collection plus two new tracks, one of which will be a collaboration with Miley Cyrus." What's more, it claimed that the "Wrecking Ball" singer "will also serve as 'N Sync's opening act when they launch their There Are Still No Strings Attached world tour next year." However, when folks made their way to the bottom of the post, they came face »
Through science – or rather, accumulated Rotten Tomatoes scores – it recently became apparent that both Ashton Kutcher, best known for his roles in dreadful rom-coms, and Jennifer Love Hewitt, best known for… well, her roles in dreadful rom-coms, have never been in a critically-acclaimed film. Scan their filmographies and you won’t find a “Fresh” score upon even one of their motion picture ventures. Seriously: the highest rated Ashton Kutcher film on Rotten Tomatoes is No Strings Attached with a mere 49%. Love Hewitt’s is Heartbreakers, with 53%.
Which is to say: these guys have managed to formulate entire careers out of bad movies, proving that it’s entirely possible to work in Hollywood even if you’ve done nothing – literally, Nothing – of worth. It appears, at least, that Ashton Kutcher has tried to take a few risks outside of his normal areas of “expertise” (Jobs, for example, was a »
