No. Just no.

Okay, so it's Hallmark and it's made for TV and I must admit I'm not exactly part of its target audience, so maybe I just should never have watched this movie to begin with. But I'm not that big a cynic: I enjoy a bit of romantic, heart-warming fluff with pretty scenery, and I liked the premise.

The trouble is, this movie is just plain bad. Even for what it is, I mean. The acting is horrible beyond imagining, and maybe none of the stars are exactly Meryl Streep, but I've seen some of them do better in other productions, so part of the blame must be laid at the director's feet, I think.

But I can stomach bad acting. The real problem is with the writing. The dialogue is dull, and plausibility is a major issue both for several aspects of the story and for some of the characterisation. The child character in particular is a textbook example of how NOT to write children. Nothing the little guy does is remotely believable.

Also, as someone else mentioned, the two leads have zero chemistry and this isn't helped by the fact that their relationship is never sufficiently developed in the plot. Those scenes are simply MISSING. So the relationship remains unmotivated at the end of the movie, which, given the genre, is unforgivable. That might be an editing problem rather than a script problem, but either way it's a problem.

Basically, much as you might try to suspend disbelief, there are too many distractions here, and if you have any sense of logic whatsoever you won't be able to get into this.

The only good things I can say about this movie is that a couple of the characters are likable despite everything, and that it's visually appealing.
