- Ed Lane: Hey! Tomorrow we're going to do this debrief again and you are going to tell the boss what really happened. 'Cause, Donna, the only thing that is more dangerous than a cop who shoots too fast is a cop who can't shoot when they need to. Now, you had the shot and I saw it.
- Donna Sabine: You saw it?
- Ed Lane: Yeah.
- Donna Sabine: Well, where were you then? Because where I was, I was pointing a gun at a scared kid with a baby in his hands.
- Ed Lane: We got an order.
- Donna Sabine: You questioned the order.
- Ed Lane: Yeah, I did. But the boss had information we didn't have. I asked a question and then I did my job like a member of this team is supposed to. All right? Are you a member of this team?
- Donna Sabine: Yes.
- Ed Lane: That's good.
- Donna Sabine: Does this job get any easier?
- Ed Lane: No.
- Ed Lane: Team One, we've got a vehicular pursuit. Standard formation to start, but if there is a baby on board, it changes everything.
- Ed Lane: The baby's in jeopardy. He's going up the coaster but he can't go any place once he's at the top.
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: Yes, he can. He can go the way his father went, Ed. He can jump!
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: Know what I see? I see a guy who's trying to do the right thing but suddenly finds himself in the wrong place. Is... is that close? I'll bet you... you don't even want to be up here. In fact, I bet you can't imagine why you're even up here.
- Terry Dornan: What, do you think I'm stupid?
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: No. No, I think you got feelings. I think you got big, gigantic feelings, the kind that just come out of your stomach and make you feel like, "What do you do?" sometimes. And you've never had anybody in your life to teach you about those feelings, to help you with those feelings, and that's not fair.
- Terry Dornan: Five years old. I mean, Ma's dead not a year. And we go up to the top of our building.
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: Hey, just stay with me, buddy. Just stay with me.
- Terry Dornan: And, I remember... he puts me down by the door... and he gives me a piece of paper. I can't read. I don't know what's on it. And I'm just standing there, looking up at my dad... as he walks to the edge.
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: Terry, you're not your father. You're your own person.
- Terry Dornan: So, what's wrong with me?
- Terry Dornan: All I want is what everybody gets.
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: What do you want? You tell me.
- Terry Dornan: I want my family. I want to come home and they're there every day, no matter what. I want my little boy to look at me... and say, "Daddy, don't leave."
- Terry Dornan: [handing the baby to Parker] You take care of him for me.
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: You bet. Here we go.
- [grabs Terry's arm as he takes the baby]
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: Here we go. That's it. I got him. I got him.
- Terry Dornan: I'm sorry.
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: Let go of him, Terry.
- Terry Dornan: I'm sorry.
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: No, you're not going anywhere.
- [puts arm around Terry's back as he struggles to get free]
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: You're not going anywhere. Don't go, Terry. Don't go Terry. Don't go! Terry, don't go! Don't go, my man! Don't go, my man!
- Ed Lane: Less lethal all around. No tasers, no gas. Wait for weapons on my go, and nothing, repeat nothing, till we get a 20 on that baby.
- Ed Lane: Boss, he's headed for the stairs and he's got the baby.
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: Eddie, stop him.
- Ed Lane: He's too far to tase.
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: Then go lethal.
- Ed Lane: Rubber bullets?
- Sgt. Gregory Parker: That might not do it, Ed. If he makes it up there, that baby could die!
- Ed Lane: Copy that. I don't have a clear shot. Sabine, do you have the solution? Sabine, you have Scorpio, take the shot.
- Donna Sabine: [hesitates and lets subject get away] Negative, no solution.
