Cherry. -- 'Cherry.' is a suspense/drama, a hipster 'Sex, Lies, and Videotape’ with a shocking twist for an ending. Delicate, romantic, and bashful Brian Cherry is continually engaged in a debate about the opposite sex with his "player" friend Sam. That is until one day he meets a seductive and dark actress named Jules. This unfettered yet internally wounded beauty turns his naïve ideas about women and sex upside down. Meanwhile, Sam runs an exclusive and snobby Los Angeles club for wealthy male clientele, and he offers Jules a job. At that moment, communication and relations among the threesome begin to warp. The vicious circle of lies provokes Brian to the shocking decision to shatter the ideas that the other characters have about him and even about themselves....
Cherry. -- LoveSick is a suspense/drama about misogyny and male impotence in the vein of Closer and In the Company of Men. When BRIAN CHERRY, a sweet, sensitive young Los Angelino, falls for the beautiful, electric, and damaged JULES, she turns his ideas about women and sex upside-down. Slowly, he is drawn into a twisted love-triangle that includes Jules and his best friend, SAM. When Jules eventually leaves him for Sam, Cherry decides on a shocking course of action that will destroy the lives of all three.

Twists and Turns, 28 February 2012
Author: SarAnjos from United Kingdom

Cherry was another of the movies I watched at Fantasporto Movie Festival. Right from the beginning, it was clearly non-European, having the usual faster rhythm of American films. The film relies on three characters - two friends and a woman who comes in between them. But it looks at that premise in a very special way: the woman is not the villain, all of them are villains at some point instead. It twists and turns continuously - like the characters are magnets connecting in the wrong sides. And that roller coaster excuses any weak dialogue that appears here and there. A nice surprise, really.
