Don't know what Rosimili's problem is?
marbuls024-19 May 2009
I know it wasn't the greatest episode but I think it did its job which was to advance the story. The story in this case is the relationship between booth and Brennan which everyone watching the show has been waiting for since prob day 1. It also shows Brennan finally start to give in to the fact maybe she does need someone in her life and can't just keep ignoring emotional feelings just bc its not scientifically factual. All in all not the greatest episode but not a 2 out of 10 and actually not all that bad, plus the addition of Stewie made it even more enjoyable IMHO so I'd lean more towards 6.5/7 as opposed to the 2 rosi gave it.

This is kinda weird
kaylaalonzoma8 August 2022
Booth hallucinations are increasing. It was so weird. Kind of a weird cross over. But I'm glad Bones got it checked out.

I'm glad fishers experiment went well to clean the bones. I cried at the end.

Hi bones booth!

Tearjerker

The forensic plot is mundane and pedestrian. It's basically a whodunnit with a triangle. The fact that it takes place in a winery has no effect on anything. What the episode is about is Brennan announcing that she has decided to have a baby and she is going to choose Booth as the father. It gets everyone's juices flowing, mostly because they doubt her emotional maturity. Sweets recognizes the fact that there is so much closeness with the two and they aren't giving any sort of service to it. The question of Booth's inability to be detached doesn't come into it. As a father, I guarantee he is going to jump all the agreements and horn in on things--or he could marry her.

Rosimili response
jasonreese-9176524 January 2016
I saw Rosimili's review and it just made me smile so I had to post a review. This review is about this episode as well as the whole series. The reason I laughed was because this show seems to be meant for people like Rosimili. (And me!) The tone of the series has changed and this is because the characters have changed. Bones is a show heavily based on character development. (That means change!) All of the psychology and deep things about the characters play a huge part in each episode and result in the characters progressing... For the better! The point of it is that yes it has lost some of the grit and seriousness which it did so well(although I think it still has a good amount and still does it well, I'm also not sure those are the precise words to use, but anyway), it lost some of that because the characters are losing it a bit at a time as well. It's on purpose. I'm sure the show could have stayed the same if it wanted but that is so out of line with what the show is based on. (Character development) Each character has gone through a lot of development, emerging from depressive/unhealthy issues into a more healthy head space little by little. They are becoming happier more mentally healthy people. This results in a bit happier less depressed tone. (Again not sure if I'm using perfect words but I hope I'm communicating my point well enough) The goal I think is that in a way we grow along with the characters. We learn from it. It has good positive messages. I can understand however how some people wouldn't be ready for such a change. We might feel as though without the issues and depressed tone, it's not real anymore, because depression/unhealthy issues may be our only reality. (It's definitely mine and most people's I believe to some extent, I love how the show has so much psychology in it, more people need therapy than realize it) That doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with the show though! The show wants to show us that reality is what we make it, it doesn't have to be so jaded and depressing. Anyway, I'm sure I didn't communicate my point as well as I hope but I just think the show is really good :) and succeeds at doing what it was always meant to do. Even if people aren't ready for it. Or just plain don't like it. :)

More evolving
mitchrmp31 July 2016
I'm going to have to give this a ten simply for the Booth/Brennan story line. We see them take another big step toward becoming a couple. Brennan doesn't only recognize the fact that she does want to be a mother (after denying it thus far), but she declares there's only one man who can be the father of her child: Booth. Digging deeper, I'm guessing that it is symbolic of the fact that Brennan is in love with Booth but due to lack of feeling loved in her past, she doesn't recognize this yet. Everyone else does (Even Booth, in my opinion), and tries to stop what she wants to do from happening.

At the end, Booth has another vision, and it scares Brennan so badly that she drags him of of the middle of an interrogation and right to the hospital. Love is written all over her face, and Booth is very uncomfortable until Brennan shows up at his side at the end of the episode.

Anyone who says they aren't in love is crazy!

Absolutely brilliant
frank-hood10 October 2021
This episode is hilarious and touching. It pushes all the right buttons: Bones' bizarre over-rationality, Booth's integrity, even Hodgins' crazy and hilarious experiment which ends up being one of the keys to solving the case. It shows both Booth's and Bones' touching trust in each other in ways both uncomfortably laugh-inducing and touching.

I feel it's unfair to downgrade a brilliant episode because it was seemingly ignored in the overall series' continuity.

Hi Bones Booth Pod!!
briezey25 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Wow, wow, wow, what an episode!

A lot goes on in this episode, which makes sense what with it being the episode before the season finale. Early in the episode, Bones decides she wants to be a mother, something that she has previously denied in other seasons. The only possible man she would want to father her child is Booth, but she makes it rather clear that he would only be needed for his DNA, nothing more, of course.

The case this week is an interesting one, with a body being discovered in a vat of wine. This causes all sorts of issues for the squints as the wine stained the bones and also caused them to turn into a rubbery material (unsure on the science of this, but cool idea).

The entire team is obviously shocked to learn that Bones wants to have a child and Fischer generously offers to be the father if Booth declines.

As always, the team solves the case, but the most important development was that Booth was seeing a hallucination (stewie from Family Guy). After an intense argument with his hallucination, Bones drags Booth from the interrogation room to discover what is going on. This leads to a wonderful performance by Emily Deschanel that gave me goosebumps. In the end, after a trip to the hospital, they learn that Booth has a brain tumor and needs immediate surgery.

This episode gives us a lot of character development and helps to answer questions from earlier episodes, like how Booth saw his dead solider buddy.

Best Part: Bones saying "trust me" to Booth at the end of the episode, wow the emotion behind those words was truly amazing

Worst Part: having to listen to Fischer offer to be Bones' sperm donor, yuck.

Love the series, hate this episode
jessicavella-920917 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I enjoy this series. I like the way the writers designed the growing relationship with Booth and Brennan, and I don't need the science to be 100% realistic - it's an escape from reality.

However, this episode is far fetched and lacks continuity with the rest of the season. All of a sudden Brennan decides she wants a baby and becomes obsessed, speaking of nothing else. Her entire character is changed and after this episode, it is never mentioned again. It's like the whole idea is a blip caused by the random brain tumour Booth suddenly develops. That also has no lead up or follow through - its like the writers wanted an excuse to write Booth's coma dream.

everyone went home but janet lin
sandcrab27719 July 2018
The problem with this series is the story editor, janet lin ... she seems bent on changing the direction of the major characters to the brink of disaster ... i find it intolerable that brennan is so rigid in her beliefs and assessments, which means to me she isn't growing like a truly intelligent being, rather regressing into childish behavior ... and the psychiatrist is barely out of puberty yet giving adult advice based on conjecture and a bad childhood ... its all hogwash

Forgotton storyline?
lemurlou10 May 2021
This seems to be a very important episode to the characters. Bones just randomly announces that she wants to have a baby. Her reasons are all wrong & everyone tries to gently tell her that.

And then it's gone. I'm 16 episodes later right now & it's like this episode never happened. What the heck?

Enough already
rosimili7 May 2009
It seems that Bones creators has lost their Mojo. And it is not just the writers. It looks like everybody tries to finish the job as soon as possible and get home. The story lines are lame. The characters are out of their original persona. They know that something is missing, so they try to boost it with unsuccessful comedy which adds to emptiness of the plot of the episodes instead of helping it. Even the acting is weak. Why Emily Deschanel talks in monotone only with wide eyes all the time? Is it suppose to be funny? Why David Boreanaz puts those ridicules faces on every serious situation? His persona is tough FBI agent not a clown. Overall it is disappointing to see they are sinking to the bottom before pulling the plug. They could just finish the series honorably in season 3 while they were on top and move on to new series. But now they close their most ridicules season, and their expectation for season 5 is even lower.
