"Remember Me" Preview -- Nilin's Combat Remix

16 May 2013 11:55 AM, PDT | MTV Multiplayer | See recent MTV Multiplayer news »

June 4th is coming up soon so Capcom and Dontnod are showing off their version of near future with the dystopian, memory hacking game, "Remember Me" hear in New York. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to check out the full demo as I was still nostalgie-tripping over "DuckTales" but I did get a few hands on moments with some combat and explored a bit of the seedy underbelly of Neo Paris.

Agile, Fluid Combat

Real talk: "Batman: Arkham Asylum" changed brawlers for the better ( I know -- bold stance to take). I'm not saying Dontnod ripped the idea straight from the Dark Knight but the similarities are hard to miss. Nilin is a very agile brawler, easily transitioning punches and kicks effectively from enemy to enemy. The section I played focused on melee characters, so I'm not sure how it'll be fleshed out against enemies packing heat. Additionally, »

The pilot was directed by Andrew Haigh, the director of the rather amazing Weekend. This will also be the first big writing project for Michael Lannan, who’s credits include associate producer of Remember Me and assistant director of James Franco’s Interior. Leather. Bar.

New Footage From Remember Me Shows Off Hyper Kinetic Gameplay

14 May 2013 7:43 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Capcom’s latest title Remember Me harmonises age-old science fiction themes with a unique and interesting concept. Come June 7th, players will take control of Nilin, a coveted hunter-come-thief with the ability to absorb memories from the people around her. Set in a futuristic depiction of Paris in 2084, the game will take place within a harsh, noir-esque cityscape where the government rule over the citizens with a burly iron fist. And in order to stoke our excitement for the game, the team at Dontnod Entertainment released a new game play video.

Check it out below:

A major component of Remember Me is The Sense Engine, or Sensen for short, a nanotechnology that is incorporated into every human being via the base of their necks – hence the glowing nodes behind everyone’s heads in the footage above. Nilin has the ability to tap into this cybernetic nexus and gain information from an individual’s memories. »

Grid 2 Complete Achievement List Released

14 May 2013 3:58 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

The complete list of Grid 2 achievements have been released this week and we have them here for your viewing pleasure.

When it comes to racing games, the Grid series is amongst the best. The first game offered a truly exciting and at times, exhilarating driving experience. The sequel, Grid 2, boasts exotics locations like Abu Dhabi and Paris and will also include cars from the past four decades. Additionally, Codemasters has also developed a new handling system which they are calling TrueFeel. They claim it will achieve the perfect balance between realism and accessibility. Hopefully they make good on that claim.

The game promises to push boundaries and offer gamers the purest racing experience yet. Judging by what the studio did with the first Grid, I see no reason to doubt them. There’s also a lot of buzz surrounding the re-imagined multiplayer mode, which has its own has its own »

9 Ideas To Help Address Sexism In Gaming

6 May 2013 7:58 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

The representation of women in video games has been quite a pertinent issue of last year or so. Issues like Anna Saarkisian’s Women vs. Tropes, The Hitman Absolution trailer, comments about Remember Me and most recently, the Dragon Crown controversy about the design of the game’s Sorceress character have pushed it to the forefront. It is an issue that brings all sorts of wild responses and quite often, heated arguments.

Women and video games have quite an interesting past: from the exploitative characters to the great and interesting female characters, it has always been an intriguing debate.

Personally, I have always been a staunch supporter of the feminist movement and I have spent quite a while forming my opinions on the whole issue. I think it is an incredibly healthy debate for the industry to be having and I always try to approach it with positivity, even the »

Trailer Aaron Birch 3 May 2013 - 09:22

A new information-packed trailer for Remember Me has been released, and here it is...

Capcom's upcoming Remember Me is going to be a very unique experience, focusing on the human memory, or more specifically, stealing and remixing it.

As Nilin, the game's amnesia-afflicted protagonist, players will embark on a mission to restore her lost memories, all the time fighting against the Memorize corporation, which has developed technology that allows people to record and upload their own memories for others to see. This means the company knows the darkest secrets of almost everyone in the world, and Nilin is part of a resistance group fighting against them.

Nilin's ability to steal memories will be used in a number of ways, from knocking people out in combat (by overloading their memories), to viewing and even changing a person's perception of the past.

Interview: 'Remember Me' Composer Olivier Derivere

30 April 2013 2:15 PM, PDT | MTV Multiplayer | See recent MTV Multiplayer news »

One feature of Dontnod's upcoming action title "Remember Me" that's not often discussed is the way the game's music is heavily influenced by the fractured state of courier heroine Nilin's memories.

To create this dynamic score, Dontnod enlisted veteran composer Olivier Derivere ("Alone in the Dark," "Of Orcs and Men"), who describes his score as "a reconstruction around Nilin’s memory." We spoke with Derivere recently about his work on "Remember Me," composing for action, and making the organic digital. Plus, enjoy samples of his upcoming soundtrack.

MTV Multiplayer: First, could you tell us a little about your background and how you came to work with Dontnod on "Remember Me?"

Olivier Derivere: I’ve always been fascinated by video games. When I first saw and heard "Shadow of the Beast" on Amiga I had an epiphany: I wanted to make games. I studied science to become a game programmer; on the other hand, »

Capcom Lowers Profit Forecast, Cancels Unnamed Western Games

18 April 2013 11:45 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Capcom announced this morning that their board of directors has approved a resolution to lower their forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013 to reflect a “special loss” of ¥6,949 million (approximately $71 million Usd). The cause of this one time event is an ongoing review of the publisher’s “business expansion strategy” and restructuring expenses related to a change in their “game development strategy.”

The revised fiscal year forecast now shows the company pulling in a net profit of ¥2.9 billion (approximately $29.5 million Usd), down from their prior forecast of ¥6.5 billion (approximately $66.3 million Usd), based largely on “robust sales” of their Resident Evil 5 Pachinko machine in Japan. Capcom also noted that their prior sales forecast revisions for both Resident Evil 6 and DmC Devil May Cry have been slightly lowered again to 4.9m and 1.15m copies respectively (down from 5.0m and 1.2m).

Sony Will Remake Korean Drama ‘New World’

11 April 2013 3:55 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Sony Pictures has bought the rights to the Korean crime drama New World, and plans on making a good ol’ American remake. They’ve hired “hot” screenwriter Will Fetters to write the script, with Roy Lee, Dan Lin and Jon Silk.

Fetters’ has mostly written adaptations for Nicholas Sparks novels (Remember Me, The Lucky One), but he also wrote Clint Eastwood’s (as yet starless) remake of A Star Is Born and Crazy for the Storm, which Sean Penn is set to direct.

In the original film after “a mob boss is gunned down, an outright battle ensues among several mobsters who want to succeed him. One of them is an undercover cop.”

The deal for New World is said to be in the high six figures.

Ubisoft Announces 2013 Digital Release Slate, Confirms 'Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon'

11 April 2013 11:15 AM, PDT | MTV Multiplayer | See recent MTV Multiplayer news »

"Terminator" star Michael Biehn Confirmed for the "Far Cry 3" 80's-style spinoff, while "Flashback" receives a 20th anniversary re-release and "Cloudberry Kingdon" offers up a fractured fairy tale as Ubisoft lays out some of their downloadable titles for 2013.

First up, the one you're curious about: "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon" is a standalone title starring Michael Biehn as a cyborg commando on a mission of revenge. This one, which we've been following with an admittedly heightened level of frenzy since the first details leaked (or "leaked") out, is coming to the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on May 1. PC preorders will get the soundtrack by artist Power Glove for free.

The official synopsis:

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon lets players get the girl, kill the bad guys and save the world in a VHS-era vision of the future! As Sergeant Rex Colt, you are part man, part machine, all American. »

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and a few words with creative director Dean Evans

Miguel Concepcion

The only thing better than a great April Fools' joke is a great reverse April Fools' joke. When many first saw the logo of "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon", they immediately recognized the many 80's-inspired stylistic flourishes, raising questions on how this related to the actual "Far Cry 3" game. Well, it's real, it has Michael Biehn as Rex Power Colt, and it's coming in fast, out May 1st on Xbla, Psn and PC. I got considerable hands-on time with "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon", and while it is a reskin of "Far Cry 3", it's a brilliantly executed one. It's an homage to 80's action films not just in references but also in attitude, a time when it felt like there was an R-rated release every week. For those of us who still have "Far Cry 3" controls in our muscle memory, there's practically zero reorientation time needed. That includes the knife kills, »
