Storyline

While US president Barrett opens a school bearing his name, his inseparable dog Teddy gets lost in the commotion when a gun is fired at its master. To avoid a press scandal, the matter is kept discrete. The dog wanders off to a country orphanage, where Teddy chooses as new master Danny Milbright, a shy boy who never seems to be considered for adoption but has a strong sense of justice, impelling him to return Teddy to his master. It proves an eventful journey all the way to D.C. Written by KGF Vissers

Trivia

The Oval Office desk, rug and props are those used in the The West Wing (1999) TV series, and both National Treasure movies. The Oval Office set was a full scale replica of the Oval Office, and was built specifically for First Dog on the stage of the Sobrato high school theater by high school film students and teachers under a unique mentorship program. The mentorship program was created by First American Cinema to mentor the senior students on an actual feature film set. The mentorship program was created by Bryan Michael Stoller of First American Cinema, and Gary Harmon of the Sobrato High School (Sobrato Conservatory of the Arts). See more »

Wow....How did this happen?
11 July 2012 | by (Lisbon, Portugal) – See all my reviews

This is probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I know that the intention may be good..they were probably trying to make a somewhat entertaining family movie, but it DID NOT work. A lot of technical aspects as well as poor acting and story brought this movie to its lowest. The actors were not believable at all, the editing and the setting were really bad. There were scenes that made no sense at all throughout the whole movie (small sequences that supposedly should make you emotional I guess). Soundtrack does nothing to help the movie...

Anyways, the only reason this is not getting 1/10 is because maybe this movie will be good for 3 year olds who don't know how to talk yet and enjoy a bunch of nonsense emotional stuff with kids..dogs..and caring adults.
