Dianna Agron in First Trailer for Mystery Thriller 'Hollow in the Land'

"Do you think he could've done it?" Vertical Entertainment has unveiled the first official trailer for an indie mystery thriller titled Hollow in the Land, the feature directorial debut of Canadian filmmaker Scooter Corkle. Hollow in the Land is a small-town murder mystery thriller starring Dianna Agron as a woman who decides track down her brother to clear his name after being blamed for a crime he didn't commit. There seems to be a few other twists and turns, as expect, in this film described as "Winter's Bone-meets-'Making a Murderer'". The full cast includes Jared Abrahamson, Shawn Ashmore, Rachelle Lefevre, Sarah Dugdale, Jessica McLeod and Michael Rogers. This looks quite solid, perhaps a strong debut for Corkle. It also seems like another chance for Agron to show how talented she is, leading the entire film. Here's the first official trailer for Scooter Corkle's Hollow in the Land,

Mother! review

Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem star in Darren Aronofsky's Mother! We delve into a very strange metaphysical horror...

Sometimes it isn’t what a film’s about or its style that’s surprising, but who’s in it and where it came from. Were Mother! an obscure genre piece from Europe or South Korea, its weird, wild excesses would probably be welcomed without the bat of an eyelid. But this is a relatively mainstream piece distributed by a major American studio (Paramount) and starring some of the biggest stars currently working in Hollywood: Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem as two partners trapped in an increasingly hellish relationship. All of this might explain why the movie's been greeted with a mixture of critical adulation and horrified disbelief since its festival debut.

Then again, it's arguable that director Darren Aronofsky’s been making off-beat horror movies off and on since his

33 Times You Wanted Whatever Jennifer Lawrence Was Having
In the seven years since Jennifer Lawrence's breakout role in 2010's Winter's Bone, the actress has established herself as the ultimate onscreen badass and Hollywood's most desirable Bff, the combination of which makes her box office and newsstand gold. Even better, her infectious personality isn't a PR product - after all, she was bringing on the Lol-worthy moments way before she got super famous, and she clearly lacks the filter necessary to emulate anyone else's path to fame. Case in point: her candid interview with Vanity Fair about that nude-photo hacking incident in November 2014, or the way she spoke at length to Glamour about America's misconceptions of her. Let's look back at all the times we could not hide our admiration for the daring A-lister. RelatedJennifer Lawrence's Best Candid Quotes

Simon Brew Aug 18, 2017

Looking for a film to watch, that you might not have considered before? Try some of these...

Sometimes, we figure, you come to a site like this just to find out about a film you didn’t know about. That you want recommendations of movies that you might not otherwise have uncovered. This list, then, has no theme, save that the films on it are really good, and didn’t get much of an audience first time around. That, or they seem to have been forgotten. It’s a real mix, but hopefully, there’s something on here that appeals..

The Brady Bunch Movie

The Brady Bunch films never really seemed to do much business in the UK, and that’s a real pity. No foreknowledge of the series is required, and the first movie takes the Brady film and transplants them into 1990s America, with no

A new month, a smattering of titles freshly available to stream for free at home, provided you have certain subscriptions. Let's play screengrab roulette. The following images are what came up (no cheating!) when I blind "scrolled" these newly streaming films on Amazon Prime. Cecil B DeMented (2000)

This is the John Waters movie with the biggest divide for me between how much I love the concept (a guerilla filmmaking unit kidnapping an A list actress and forcing her to star in their film) and what I think of the actual movie. But, damn, Alicia Witt was on comic fire in this movie as "Cherish". It's clear that Melanie Griffith who headlines had seen Serial Mom (1994) and thought 'I could do that!

‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Is a Riveting, Relevant, and Political Drama, So Why Won’t the Creators Say So?

‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Is a Riveting, Relevant, and Political Drama, So Why Won’t the Creators Say So?
Last night, Hulu’s adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. A frightening and incredibly gripping piece of visual storytelling from cinematographer-turned-director Reed Morano, it stands as a remarkable piece of art that speaks to atrocities committed against women around the world and throughout history.

While writer and executive producer Bruce Miller began developing the 33-year-old novel before the rise of Donald Trump, the story of women who have been stripped of all agency to exist solely as breeding vessels for the patriarchy seems all too prescient in a 2017 when immigrants are being separated from their children, facts are “alternative,” and women are losing access to healthcare at the hands of a president who’s admitted sexual assault on audiotape.

As IndieWire’s Liz Shannon Miller noted in her grade-a review:

“Could ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ really happen?” isn’t the question anymore.

Watch: Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence Star in First 'Passengers' Trailer

  • Movies.com
Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt both shot to movie stardom rather suddenly. Lawrence gave a sterling performance in the indie drama Winter's Bone, earning an Academy Award nomination. She was then cast in a supporting role in X-Men: First Class, which brought her even wider notice and set the stage for her starring turns in The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook, the latter of which brought her an Academy Award. For his part, Pratt established himself on television, first on Everwood and then on Parks and Recreation, while acquitting himself quite nicely in supporting roles in a variety of movies. But it was his starring performance in Guardians of the Galaxy that launched him into the stratosphere. Now the two are starring together in Passengers, which is a test...
