Trivia

In the scene where Goebbels, Harlan and some other people are watching a movie on Goebbels' 43th birthday, they are watching an actual birthday home movie with the real children of Goebbels. This movie was made a few days before his birthday by Heinz Rühmann, who was invited by Goebbels himself 1940 to his villa in Wannsee near Berlin. Goebbels liked Rühmann and let him playing many movies but Rühmann himself wasn't a Nazi. See more »

Goofs

When the Jewish extras are sitting, eating and singing, Fritz Hippler comes in. Deutscher is referencing him as the man, who made the movie "Der ewige Jude" (The eternal Jew). But this movie was published in the year as "Jew Suess" but it was made after Jew Suess was published. However, Beutscher might have seen the man but the name of the movie was unknown at that moment. Quotes

Veit Harlan: [discussing a movie scene] Aren't you worried, Herr Minister, that the audience would go on the side of Suess, when he says the line with such majesty?
Joseph Goebbels: Oh no, why? The jew must be a human being, not a monster. Otherwise everyone will think "What a cheap propaganda!"

Excellent film about Nazi propaganda!
25 November 2013 | by (Sarajevo B&H) – See all my reviews

Why was this film talked against at Berlinale? I find it excellent. It is very interesting story about what happened to actor Marian who acted in Jew Suss. We are still not sure, but I heard that some soldiers of some country who occupied Germany at that time killed him. Nobody is sure.

It is very important to explore Nazi propaganda films, it was an interesting time in the history of film making in Germany at that time. I wished Nazi period never happened, but it did and left a legacy in film making that Germany and UFA should not be proud of.

I would definitely recommend this film for all people who want to know about what happened to film making during Nazi period. We should explore further what happened to the actor Ferdinand Marian.
