The island of Milos is the southernmost of the Cyclades island group, It is located 120 kilometers (75 miles) from the coast of Laconia, in the Peloponnese. It is mostly famous for an archaeological discovery, a statue of the goddess Aphrodite. The statue is currently located in the Louvre, and has been named "Venus de Milo" (the Aphrodite/Venus of Milos), "Venus" being the Roman/Latin name for Aphrodite.
