New Line Hires Writer To Pen Natural-Disaster Pic 'Category 6'

2 February 2015 10:28 PM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

New Line Cinema has brought on Greg Russo to write Category 6, a natural-disaster pic about a massive coastal hurricane. Broken Road's Todd Garner will oversee.

There aren't any details about which coastal city the movie will take place in or the main character. Besides Category 6, Russo is also scripting It Takes A Thief for Universal. Previously, he scripted Heatseekers for Michael Bay’s Platinum Dune at Paramount.

This year (summer) we'll get another disaster pic, starring Dwayne Johnson. The film, San Andreas 3D, takes place after a devastating earthquake hits California. Johnson plays an La Fire Department rescue-helicopter pilot who attempt to leave La to look for their estranged daughter in San Francisco. Brad Peyton (Journey 2: The Mysterious Island) directs.

So what's more worth-watching, gigantic waves swallowing whole neighborhoods? Or seeing everything come tumbling down?
