I played this game for several hours today, and found that it was truly a delight! I haven't beaten it yet, but I do know that it is a great improvement from the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix game. In Order of the Phoenix, the camera could not be controlled, which meant that you often could not see what you wanted to, and the camera was so far away, focusing more on your surroundings than Harry himself, that you had no idea where you were going. In this installment, the camera was focused directly behind Harry, and if you hold down R2 (At least on the PS3), you can completely control the camera for yourself. In Order of the Phoenix, Harry could only jog, and you had to hold down a button to do so. In this, he can run without any buttons pressed, and sprint very fast when you hold a button. Instead of the robotic-like students who are just in your way, realistic people walk around, and there aren't as many of them. The castle is almost the same as it had been in Order of the Phoenix, but there have been improvements: the familiar environment has been stretched so there is more room, there is more detail than ever, and there are plenty of additions that you can explore. Quidditch has returned, and it is great fun! The controls are easy once you get use to them, and you find that you enjoy flying on the broom very much! Deuling in this game is very much like it was in Order of the Phoenix, but it too has been improved. The spells are more realistic, and though the analog movements to make the spells are irksome, it is still great fun. Your opponent isn't a stupid, robotic spell-caster. Each character has their own strength and weakness in dueling; you never know what spell they are going to throw at you next. And now I saved the best for last: the graphics! As a movie-based video game, the graphics shouldn't be too good, right? Well, the cut-scene graphics are somewhat pitiful, but when you are actually playing, you will be surprised at how detailed and wonderful your environment, and you characters, are. Again: the cut-scene graphics are not very good, but the game-play graphics are wowing! I give this game a good nine out of ten; I took a point off because the cut-scene graphics are not very impressive. But overall this is a good game, not for serious gamers, but for those who love the world of Harry Potter.
