Carter speaks with the real George Antrobus, he informs him that Mary was a heroin addict. Joyce Dean gives a statement describing her attacker, she implicates Guy. Inspector Carter finally starts to believe Guy, and a singular clue convinces him that Guy isn't his man. Felix is convinced Paula was the original intended victim, after all Melissa was wearing her coat, Guy takes Paula in when a van nearly hits her and drives off. Inspector Carter tells Guy some of Melissa's secrets and sets a trap to draw the killer out.
It ends as brilliantly as it begins, it's brilliant how the story begins to unfold, great too how you see some of the characters switch their behaviour. If you've not seen it before the outcome will come as a big surprise.
Wonderfully acted, Ronald Fraser and Joan Benham in particular are fantastic in the final part.
Infinitely superior to the later version in every way.
