Law and justice
safenoe14 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The ending was somewhat unique, especially with the lawyer seemingly running away to avoid accountability for her crimes and misdemeanours. I think this episode of Annika transcende the crime itself, and more a mediation on law and justice and vikings and the Isle of Bute. I like Annika, although I appreciate it's not for everyone, especially the speaking to camera.

Episode 2
Prismark103 September 2021
When Annika speaks to the camera. Her stories might have some actual bearing on the case.

The second episode opens with the Norse legend of female valkyries.

A murdered man is found in an adrift boat called the Valkyrie. The boat later explodes.

Annika ends up going to the Isle of Bute. Not only is she investigating possible suspects but also her daughter's fondness for the booze.

This was a much better episode than the opener. A better more darker mystery and the humour seemed to have gelled better here.

I did like how the cops were impressed by the lawyer representing one of the suspect's.

If this were America...

Warning: Spoilers
If this were America, Liz would have been shot in the back walking away and the pilot would have been clipped too.

The show does talk about the dangers of grooming and pedophilia. Another review was bored to tears but the subtle messaging of child abuse is what should be taken from this episode.

Cute

Too cute. Copies off of every American detective show I've ever seen. On the team, always the cute young woman who is hip (gets along with her daughter), the female sergeant (yawn), our detective Annika, and the unimportant men. They've taken from Nicole's last detective show the same music and added her talking to the viewer (which is totally unnecessary). That daughter-why? She is only annoying-nothing else. She isn't likable or even understandable. I like Nicola. That's the only thing I like. But, I like her in anything. It says I have to make this longer.35 more characters to go, 9,8,7,6,5,4.

Sorry to say, I was bored to tears.

Annika investigates the death of a man, who is stabbed and left on board a boat.

I quite enjoyed the first episode, this second one I found poor, I found this one pretty hard to follow, disjointed and if I'm honest utterly bored.

This was agonisingly slow, muddled and totally failed to hold my attention. It felt a little botched at times, it didn't feel like a slick production at all, it almost felt cheaply made.

On the plus side, I enjoyed the talk about Vikings and Valkyries, and the rope climbing scene was a shocking attention grabber.

Didn't do it for me, 4/10.

I like this show but...

The speaking to the camera stuff is just not pleasant. It is a fad that died out 10 years ago and really doesn't feel like it belongs at all in this kind of show. I'd love to see another season of this show after this one without this gimmick.

Not impressed.

I don't know where they filmed it but it was NOT the isle of Bute! I grew up there and lived there for 30+ years. What's next? Film it in Orkney and claim its London?🤣🤣

Story was decent

Decent story, but still not liking the talking to camera and the comparisons to literary works.

The ending also seemed quite dumb. How can they let someone get away like that.
