I Guess You Could Call This A 'Reality Show'
6 March 2009 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

After watching back-to-back shows, which is the way the Animal Planet Network is apparently running these each Friday night. Each show looks like it runs about 20 minutes with 10 minutes of commercials....at least!

Anyway, I notice a lot of stuff is staged here, although the jockeys, trainers, owners, races and tracks are all the real thing. Announcer Trevor Denman is only heard calling the jockey that the show is concentrating on, at the minute. In a real race, of course, he tells you what every horse is doing during the event. Denman is considered one of the best track announcers in the business.

As one of the few people on the planet who has never a reality show, I'm guessing this is one.

The title to this episode, by the way, "One Good Horse," refers to unestablished jockeys, especially struggling ones, needing just one good horse to get themselves back on the map and in good graces with owners and trainers. Then, they'll get more mounts. Without that one good horse, jockeys who are not winning or are new to the track or the sport, have a hard time getting rides.
