The shooting of A Detroit Thing takes place prior to Kid Rock being signed to Atlantic/lava Records. Rock was recording his self-released 'Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp' - in Detroit's White Room Studios - under the production guidance of the Nehra Brothers, who also performed in and Produced Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise.
