29 December 2011 10:10 AM, PST | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Kate Beckinsale held hands with her daughter, Lily Sheen, as they caught a flight with Kate's husband, Len Wiseman, yesterday. Len and Kate took a romantic vacation of their own back in October when they headed to Mexico, and this time around, had Lily by their sides as they left Lax. Kate and Len have been back on the West Coast recently after spending much of their Summer and early Fall in Toronto together for work, filming the remake of Total Recall along with Jessica Biel, Colin Farrell, and others. That film is expected to hit theaters in the Summer, but before that, Kate will return to the big screen in the Underworld franchise. Underworld: Awakening is hitting theaters in just a few short weeks on Jan. 20. Meanwhile, the actress and her family are taking advantage of the holiday lull to head out of town. Jessica Biel Primed To Take Role in Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes

22 December 2011 3:00 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

It may have a terribly off-putting title (and let’s face it, Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever standard terrible) but ‘Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes’ backs that up with an even more off-putting premise.

Emanuel is a troubled 17-year-old girl who babysits her new neighbour Linda’s “baby,” which is actually a very life-like doll. She goes along with the delusion while befriending Linda, who happens to be the spitting image of her late mother.

After acting in Francseca Gregorini’s egregiously insufferable previous feature Tanner Hall newly appointed movie star Rooney Mara was slated to play the titular Emanuel before scheduling conflicts got in the way. Now Skins alumni Kaya Scodelario has stepped in and news is that Jessica Biel is in final talks to maniacally inhabit the shoes of the nutty neighbour.

Scodelario’s Emanuel was previously described as “a young, troubled woman who becomes obsessed with her mysterious, »

Jessica Biel Ready to Sign For Indie ‘Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes’

21 December 2011 5:00 AM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Seems like a big sector of movie news this week is about Rooney Mara, even when it isn't. The actress, starring now in David Fincher's version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (and killing it, I might add) was in a 2009 film called Tanner Hall that didn't get much distribution or attention. A peek at the trailer [1] for the movie might suggest the reason for the film's minor profile. Still, Mara was set to play the title role [2] in Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes from Tanner Hall director Francseca Gregorini until scheduling got in the way. (Suggesting that David Fincher was talking about A Nightmare on Elm Street rather than Tanner Hall when he said of Mara [3], "I know that her first foray into being the center of a movie was an incredibly draining, unproductive and bad experience for her.") Now Kaya Scodelario will play that role »

Emanuel And The Truth About Fishes Nabs Jessica Biel

21 December 2011 1:58 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Total Recall and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre star, Jessica Biel is in final talks to play a mother named Linda, struggling with the death of her child in moving independent drama Emanuel And The Truth About Fishes. The actress will appear in the film directed by Tanner Hall helmer Francesca Gregorini. Her character becomes damaged and delusional following her child’s death and deals with the situation by caring for a baby doll who she believes is actually alive.

Skins starlet Kaya Scodelario will play 17-year-old neighbour Emanuel, who befriends Linda and plays along with her scenario, and even playing babysitter. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’s Rooney Mara was originally set to take the role of Linda (reuniting with her Tanner Hall director) until shooting was pushed back to early next year.

Jessica Biel Finds Truth About Fishes

20 December 2011 10:21 PM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Switching up the big studio projects with the smaller indie fare has always seemed to be Jessica Biel's modus operandi. Fitting then, that Biel will be joining Kaya Scodelario in Emanuel And The Truth About Fishes, following her sci-fi ass-kicking in Len Wiseman's Total Recall. As reported last week, Scodelario replaced Rooney Mara in the drama that marks Francesca Gregorini's second directorial effort (following Tanner Hall). Early reports revealed that it's about a young girl who's obsessed with her neighbour because she bears an uncanny resemblance to her dead mother, and agrees to babysit said neighbour's child, which turns out to be a lifelike doll. We're now hearing that the neighbour's name is Linda, and that the doll is a surrogate, since Linda is dealing with the emotional after-effects of the death of her daughter. So it's not quite the bonkers Lars And The Real Girl-alike that it initially appeared. »

Jessica Biel in Talks for Indie Emanuel And The Truth About Fishes; Jay Mohr Joins Comedy Burt Wonderstone Opposite Steve Carell

We’ve got a couple of casting stories to share with you this afternoon. First up, Jessica Biel is in final negotiations to join the indie Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes. Directed by Francesca Gregorini (Tanner Hall), the film stars Kaya Scodelario (Clash of the Titans) as a troubled 17-year-old named Emanuel who agrees to babysit her new neighbor Linda’s “baby”, though the baby turns out to actually be a life-like doll. “She goes along with the delusion while befriending Linda, who happens to be the splitting image of Emanuel’s late mother.” Variety reports that Biel is in talks to play Linda, who is traumatized by the death of her child and has been caring for the doll as a means of coping. Jessica Biel Catches Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes

20 December 2011 | Comingsoon.net | See recent Comingsoon.net news »

Jessica Biel appears to be the latest name to join the cast of Emanuel and the Truth About Fishes . Variety reports that the actress is currently in negotiations for a leading role. Last week , it was revealed that Kaya Scodelario would be replacing the previously attached Rooney Mara in the lead of the Francesca Gregorini ( Tanner Hall ) film. Fishes is said to focus on a young girl (presumably Emanuel) and her obsession with a new neighbor's resemblance to her dead mother as the girl agrees to babysit the woman's lifelike doll. Biel would play the neighbor, Linda, who has recently lost her own daughter and, due to shock, treats the doll as a surrogate. Biel is on the big screen now in New Year's Eve and, next summer, will headline Total Recall . (Photo Credit: »

Charlize Theron, Kate Beckinsale, Johnny Depp and Robert Downey, Jr. have topped a new list to find the sexiest movie stars of next year's blockbusters.

Editors at leading movie news and ticket website Fandango.com asked film fans to select the stars that turn them on in the most-anticipated releases of 2012 and the foursome came top of the separate male and female hot lists.

Theron, who will terrify as the evil queen in Snow White & The Huntsman, has topped the women's list of sexiest female stars, beating Gravity's Sandra Bullock and Kate Beckinsale, the star of 2012 movies Total Recall, Underworld 4 and Contraband, while the British actress tops the men's list, ahead of The Avengers' Scarlett Johansson.

Female poll respondents picked Johnny Depp as the sexiest guy, ahead of George Clooney, while the men gave Robert Downey, Jr. the edge over Clooney.

’24′ Movie to Start Shooting Next Spring, Script Nears Completion

6 December 2011 9:54 PM, PST | BuzzFocus.com | See recent BuzzFocus.com news »

Tick, tock, tick, tock…. Get ready to hear those familiar chimes in a movie theater near you as you gobble copious amounts of popcorn. That’s right, the previously elusive 24 feature film is finally graduating to pre-production status. Deadline reports screenwriter Mark Bomback is being tapped to tweak the script that was penned by Billy Ray. Bomback is no stranger to action films having written adrenaline-fests Live Free or Die Hard and Unstoppable. He’s also working on the scripts to two other well-known action franchises, The Wolverine and Total Recall. At this time, there’s no director attached to the project, though Imagine Entertainment and 20th Century Fox are said to be considering five helmers. It’s also worth noting that there is no mention of plot at this point, though it’s safe to say that Jack Bauer will once again save the world from a terrorist threat »

24 Movie to Begin Shooting in April

5 December 2011 5:13 PM, PST | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

We've been hearing about a "24" movie ever since the popular television series was still on the air. Now comes word that 20th Century Fox is very serious about developing the film and is planning to begin shooting in April, to match Kiefer Sutherland's availability. Mark Bomback, the writer of the upcoming "Wolverine" sequel and "Total Recall" remake, is on board to pen "24," which will bring back Sutherland as government operative Jack Bauer. Unlike the show, the new movie will not be done in real-time and will conclude its story in two hours. The studio is currently in talks with directors and has about five helmers in mind. Tony Scott (Man on Fire, Enemy of the State) was previously attached, but has since dropped out. His replacement will be announced early next year. Click here to read more about "24." »

Feature-Film Continuation of ’24′ Could Shoot Spring 2012

5 December 2011 2:30 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Every couple months there seems to be an incremental update on the feature film version of 24. Most of these updates amount to saying that the project isn't dead yet, but that it isn't really moving full steam ahead, either. Now Mark Bomback (Unstoppable, Live Free or Die Hard, Total Recall) is about to turn in a new draft that would put Kiefer Sutherland back in the Jack Bauer role, and Deadline [1] says that Fox has a director shortlist with about five names. Yeah, there's always a director shortlist when a project is at this stage, and even the most notable fact of this update, that Tony Scott is no longer attached and isn't part of that shortlist, isn't really a surprise given the fact that his attachment always seemed very loose at best. The site says Kiefer Sutherland is available starting in April 2012, and that's when Fox wants to shoot the movie. »

Jack Bauer will Return in… April? 24: The Movie gets moving once again

5 December 2011 2:08 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Looking back through the HeyUGuys archives we can see a number of stories charting the development of a big screen version of Fox’s 24, from before the cancellation of the show after its eighth season to talks of a movie going into production in 2010. Then after a solid lack of progression a script from State of Play screenwriter Billy Ray was supposed to kickstart the project back into life., but this was not to be.

Kiefer Sutherland himself talked up the break from the show’s real-time format and hinted that the movie would trot the globe taking in London and ‘Eastern Europe’, then almost exactly a year ago the name of Tony Scott was thrown into the ring along with the news that the Billy Ray script wasn’t strong enough and was therefore ditched unceremoniously. So, where does another year along the road find us?
