5 May 2017 2:24 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Paramount is developing a show business comedy for Will Ferrell and Jason Momoa.

Nick Stoller and Ferrell’s Gary Sanchez company are producing the film.

The studio acquired an untitled pitch from the team of Andy Mogel and Jarrad Paul, who will write the script. Ferrell will play a washed-up TV star who reunites with the actor (Momoa) who played his son on a TV show, and has since become a huge star.

Ferrell will next be seen opposite Amy Poehler in the New Line comedy “The House,” which opens June 30 and which Gary Sanchez produced. Momoa will star in the Warner Bros. tentpole “Justice League” as Aquaman in November then topline a standalone movie, which James Wan began shooting this week. The latter film debuts on Dec. 21, 2018.

Will Ferrell & Jason Momoa Team Up For ‘Bojack Horseman’-Ish Comedy Movie

5 May 2017 1:00 PM, PDT | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Will Ferrell is just intrinsically funny in the way that even relatively few big-name comedy stars are — he’s capable of making you laugh just by standing there in a way that, say, Ed Helms isn’t (no offense to Mr. Helms). But Ferrell becomes doubly funny when you pair him up with someone who intimidates him in some way, as two movies with Mark Wahlberg, “The Other Guys” and “Daddy’s Home,” has proven.

Christian Bale in Talks to Play Dick Cheney for Adam McKay

6 April 2017 9:04 AM, PDT | | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Amy Adams and Steve Carrell also in negotiations.

After a string of blockbuster comedies starring Will Ferrell — Anchorman, The Other Guys, Step Brothers — writer-director Adam McKay side-stepped a little a couple years back with The Big Short, an ensemble flick about the real-life housing bubble collapse of the mid-2000s. The film earned the best reviews of McKay’s well-reviewed career, and wound up with five Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director, and one win for McKay’s screenplay (with Charles Randolph).

It shouldn’t be surprising then that for his big screen follow-up, McKay would return to the ripped-from-the-headlines genre, this time tackling a biopic of one of the most shadowy and misunderstood figures of this century to-date: Former Vice President Dick Cheney. And the cast he’s building? Start polishing the Oscars.

According to Variety’s sources Bale is on board to play Cheney, while Amy Adams is in talks to play his »

Newswire: Liam Neeson to play Viola Davis’ husband in Steve McQueen’s heist movie

5 March 2017 4:11 PM, PST | | See recent The AV Club news »

Though the movie probably isn’t going to be a goofy comedy, Liam Neeson is “in talks” to join Steve McQueen’s Widows in a role that sounds exactly like the ones played by Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson in Adam McKay’s The Other Guys—in other words, he’s going to be playing off of the typical action guy roles he usually gets only to be killed off so a different character can take his place. That may seem like a spoiler, but the whole premise of Widows is that a thrilling heist goes wrong and the would-be thieves get killed, leaving their Widows to pull off the job without them.

According to Variety, Neeson will play the husband of Viola Davis’ character (meaning he’ll get killed), and he’ll be joining other stars Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Rodriguez, Daniel Kaluuya, and Andre Holland. Widows »

Six Season 1 Episode 6 Review: Confession

22 February 2017 9:24 PM, PST | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Where do you draw the line as to who is innocent and who is not? Who's a hero and who is not?

These issues were explored on Six Season 1 Episode 6 as the team completed another mission that brought them closer to finding Rip.

As expected, Rip's televised "confession" caused waves in the U.S. Killing innocents even during an act of war doesn't sit well with some people.

And to be honest, when the team raided the house in Panama, I questioned why they had to kill the woman even though she was going for a gun.

It was obvious that all of the adults in the house were dangerous, including the woman. While I understood the "why" behind it all, I didn't understand it at all.

The first question that came to mind was couldn't they just have taken her prisoner instead of killing her? Then the other part »

The 12 Mark Wahlberg films where he holds a gun on the poster

Jake Wilson Feb 28, 2017

From The Big Hit to Patriots Day, we explore Mark Wahlberg's dozen films where he holds a gun on the promo poster....

Mark Wahlberg is a man of many talents. His rhymes are fresh, his frown is legendary, and it turns out he’s pretty decent in a bout of fisticuffs.

See related  David Fincher's unfinished projects Looking back at David Fincher's Alien 3 House Of Cards season 5: everything we know so far

And then there's his acting. He has been in a wealth of films, usually fighting for, or alongside, the American flag. He's a gun-toting ass-kicker, and the world seems to dig it.

This is his game, his brand. Wahlberg moves between moral, no-nonsense cop and powerful, maverick law breaker and whilst he doesn’t always play armed characters, it is through these films that we can see the strands that »

Mel Gibson and John Lithgow wanted for Daddy’s Home 2

1 February 2017 9:03 AM, PST | | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Author: Scott Davis

Despite the controversy that has surrounded him in the last decade or so, it seems Mel Gibson is well and truly on the comeback trail in Hollywood. His latest film, Hacksaw Ridge, has been a big success across the globe and was rewarded last week with an Academy Award nomination for Best Director alongside his star Andrew Garfield, nominated for Best Actor (read our review here).

Now it seems Gibson could be about the jump back in front of the camera if new rumours are to be believed. Deadline is reporting that the Braveheart star is being courted for a role in the upcoming comedy sequel Daddy’s Home 2, which would see him star alongside the returning duo of Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, reprising their roles as Brad and Dusty respectively.

Indeed Gibson isn’t the only award-season favourite wanted for the film as The Crown »

31 January 2017 7:15 AM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

“Daddy’s Home 2” will debut in theaters on November 10, 2017. The follow-up to the 2015 hit will bring back Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell as warring fathers. It is also rumored to add John Lithgow and Mel Gibson to the mix. Sean Anders, the director of the first film, will return behind the camera.

“Daddy’s Home 2” will head off against “The Star,” a Sony animated offering, and “Red Sparrow,” a Fox thriller from Francis Lawrence, the director of several “Hunger Games” films. It will also be up against the second weekend of “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Bad Moms Christmas,” two highly-anticipated sequels. It’s a highly competitive time of year, as studios are angling to get their films into multiplexes in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Stargate Sg-1: 10 great guest performances

26 January 2017 12:41 PM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Juliette Harrisson Jan 31, 2017

We salute 10 memorable guest roles on Stargate Sg-1, featuring Seth, The Keeper and more...

As with our previous features, this is a list designed to celebrate the very best performances by guest actors in Stargate Sg-1. However, we did come across a couple of challenges in compiling the list for this particular series. We’ve defined ‘guest performance’ as an actor playing a character who is not a regular or recurring character – so the actor must have played the character no more than twice in this particular series (though they may have appeared more often in other branches of the franchise). Stargate Sg-1 liked to re-use its best guest characters as often as possible, frequently bringing back characters like Claudia Black’s Vala Mal Doran after what was initially a one-off appearance, which is great as the audience get to enjoy them again, but seriously reduces the number of eligible performances. »

Movie Review – Patriots Day (2016)

Patriots Day, 2016.

Directed by Peter Berg.

Starring Mark Wahlberg, Kevin Bacon, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, Michelle Monaghan, Christopher O’Shea, Rachel Brosnahan, Alex Wolff, Themo Melikidze, Jimmy O. Yang, Jake Picking, and Melissa Benoist.

An account of Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis’s actions in the events leading up to the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and the aftermath, which includes the city-wide manhunt to find the terrorists behind it.

Boston sure does band together in the most touching and strangest of ways. Scene setup: A small army of special forces (along with Boston and Watertown Police Departments) are all posted up around an isolated neighborhood backyard boat which is believed to be the whereabouts of the second marathon bomber’s hiding location, and don’t forget, a middle-aged community woman also on a rooftop with a rifle pointed squarely at the target. It’s certainly an unexpected and equally hilarious sight to behold, »

The Moment Michael Keaton Knew Batman Forever Was Going to Suck

3 January 2017 1:09 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Michael Keaton has had a stunning career resurgence in recent years. He has starred in the last two movies to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards (Birdman and Spotlight) and is getting some buzz for his role as Ray Kroc in The Founder, which tells the story of how McDonald's became a massive franchise. Still, many will always think of him as Batman to some degree, since he starred in the two Tim Burton directed Batman movies and very nearly in the third of the series, which was helmed by Joel Schumacher. But he had the good sense to bail on the project because in his words, "It sucked!"

The Oscar nominee was a recent guest on The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast, where he discussed his decision not to be in Batman Forever, which is famously a very bad movie by most accounts. According to Michael Keaton, the »
