Revealing mistakes

The newspaper that reports Elise's dance career and engagement repeats the same paragraphs several times, taking up space in order to fill the article.

Anachronisms

On the night of the 2006 election, Norris watches coverage on CNN. CNN's on-screen graphics match their 2011 scheme, which wasn't implemented until 2008. He's also watching an HD broadcast of CNN; CNN HD did not debut until September 2007.

Character error

When Elise woke up, the alarm clock was at 8:20, yet she had received four phone calls, the most recent being from 11:03. Later she said she had received them in the same morning (not last night).

On the Marriage License issued 10/7/2009, Elise's DOB is listed as 11/11/77, making her 31 at the time that this was issued as her birthday for 2009 has not yet arrived. Item 15 (Age) on the license, however, lists her age as 32.

The agents several times speak of "inflections points", but what they mean is called "bifurcation point", i.e. a point on the graph of a process where a branching into two (or more) different trajectories may occur.

Thompson tells David the list of problems the world created 'within fifty years' after giving people autonomy in 1910. The Cuban Missile Crisis did not start until 1963, fifty-three years later.

Continuity

After they meet for the first time after the wedding, and Elise leaves the bus, David takes a call on a Samsung cell phone. After a cut away, he is speaking on his Blackberry.

When David is on the bus with Elise she drops his blackberry in the cup of coffee. He receives a call from Charlie on his flip phone. After the scene cuts to Charlie talking on the phone and back to David, David is talking on his Blackberry instead of the flip phone. This is one continuous conversation that should have been done on one phone.

At 1:30:18, David Norris stops a Dodge Avenger when he runs in front of it. In the next scene though at 1:30:19 through 1:30:21, you see a Dodge Charger instead.

In the newspaper article regarding the congressman's college prank, one of the accompanying photographs was taken during the warehouse party Elise takes him to later in the film.

Crew or equipment visible

In the very last scene, just before the credits, an extra can be seen filming the scene with a smart phone from the car.

Factual errors

Elise's marriage license application is issued by the Department of Human Services. In reality it would be issued by the City Clerk's office.

Plot holes

David could have been able to find Elise by using any good PI. He could have given a good description of what she looked like, and as many results as his internet search produced, he could have looked in the White Pages, looking solely in the Greater New York area.

Revealing mistakes

Just before Elise sprains her ankle, there is a long shot of the performers dancing, clearly showing someone else in Emily Blunt's place.
