Pour 1 Out For the Movies and TV Shows Leaving Netflix in July

Netflix giveth, and Netflix taketh away. After releasing the incredible list of new titles it's adding in July (Titanic! Rogue One!), the streaming service also revealed which movies and TV shows will be disappearing before we know it. Alien (1979)

Synopsis: Ridley Scott’s sci-fi horror classic stars Sigourney Weaver as Ripley, a tough-as-nails warrant officer who stares down one of the most terrifying movie monsters of all time: a bloodthirsty alien that stalks and eviscerates its prey. As the deadly creature winds its way through the air shafts of the spacecraft Nostramo, the crew members consider deploying the ship’s escape shuttle… but there’s only room for four people.

Synopsis: In this acclaimed sequel, the only survivor from the first film, Lt. Ripley, finds her horrific account of her crew’s fate is met with skepticism — until the disappearance of colonists on Lv-426 prompts a team of high-tech Marines to investigate. Ripley travels with the team as an advisor, only to find that her biggest fear has come true. Weaver was Oscar nominated for Best Actress.

Canadian Society of Cinematographers Awards 2011: Nominations: Nicolas Bolduc

Nicolas Bolduc, Paul Sarossy, and the other nominations for the 2011 Canadian Society of Cinematographers Awards have been announced. The Canadian Society of Cinematographers (Csc) is used “to promote the art and craft of cinematography and to provide tangible recognition of the common bonds that link film and video professionals, from the aspiring student and camera assistant to the news veteran and senior director of photography. Csc members are involved in the production of feature films, documentaries, television series, specials and commercials.” The Csc Awards will be handed out on April 2, 2011 at the Frontenac Ballroom, Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto. The full listing of the 2011 Canadian Society of Cinematographers Awards nominations is below.

[DVD Review] Flicka 2

When a movie only recoups its production budget by $7 million*, like 2006’s Flicka did, you would like to think a studio would look to newer properties before investing in a sequel for that less than lucrative feature. However, weighing that prospect against the admitted shortage of family friendly films you begin to understand how Fox might believe they could cash in one last time on the Flicka franchise’s name before fully putting it down. However, what’s harder to fathom is the strategy of a direct-to-dvd sequel. The original film didn’t garner nearly enough recognition to make parents seek out a sequel on the shelves without being prompted by a theatrical release. Despite getting Patrick Warburton (the man with a golden voice) to star in this family sequel, Fox has produced a largely flat and contrived film that even tweens will be hard-pressed to enjoy.

Flicks on 6 – ‘Iron Man 2′ starring Robert Downey Jr. and more

Flicks on 6 on “Studio 6.”

It’s the beginning of the summer blockbusters, and film critic Jeff Bayer stopped by to talk about the big release, “Iron Man 2″ starring Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke.

He also lets you know if the documentary “Babies” and Oscar winner “The Secret in Their Eyes” are worth your time.

Plus, he gave away DVDs for “Flicka 2″ starring Clint Black, and movie passes for “Babies” which would make a good Mother’s Day gift.
