During the filming process, Lily James stated that she had a scene where she had to walk through an area with zombie heads all around. Of course, most of them were fake props and she was directed to stomp on one. They would have supposedly gotten squished, however she stomped and realized everyone behind cameras were all staring at her in shock. She looked down and realized she stepped on one of the few extras' head.
Natalie Portman was originally cast as Elizabeth Bennet but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. Scarlett Johansson, Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone, Mia Wasikowska, Rooney Mara, Mila Kunis and Blake Lively were considered to replace her before Lily James was finally cast. Portman remains on board as a producer.
All the actresses playing the Bennet sisters did their own stunts for the film.
Lily James hadn't heard of the novel when she received the script. She read the book in two days on the set of Downton Abbey (2010).
Matt Smith dated co-star Lily James during the film's production.
Several of the young cast members were inexperienced with making a comedy and would often turn to co-star Sally Phillips, who's a veteran in the field, for advice on how to improve their comic timing and delivery.
Bella Heathcote and Lily James, who play the two eldest Bennet sisters, both tested for the title role in Cinderella (2015). The role went to James.
Mrs. Bennet is Sally Phillips's favorite part among her own film work.
Lily Collins was offered the role of Elizabeth Bennet, but turned it down.
This marks Sally Phillips's second film adaptation of a book which originally was a revisited edition of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice". She previously starred in Bridget Jones's Diary (2001) which source material also was a reinterpretation of Austen's classic novel.
David O. Russell was originally set to direct, but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.
Burr Steers directed a long-take sequence but it was edited after test screenings.
Suki Waterhouse badly bruised her shoulder while filming the first fight scene between the Bennet sisters and the zombies.
Both Lily James and Sam Riley have both starred in live action remakes of Disney movies. James in Cinderella (2015), and Riley in Maleficent (2014).
The film was not given a cinema release in New Zealand and went straight to DVD. However, the poster of the film was advertised in Kiwi cinemas.

Natalie Portman was originally cast in the film as Elizabeth Bennet before dropping out. Ironically, Keira Knightly, who is often considered her lookalike, played the role of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice (2005), whose original source material by Jane Austen was parodied by the 2009 novel which this film is adapted from.
After David O. Russell left the project, Mike Newell, David Slade, Matt Reeves, Jonathan Demme, Neil Marshall, Mike White, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller were all considered to direct before Burr Steers was chosen.
Douglas Booth and Charles Dance played together in an earlier period piece, And Then There Were None (2015).
Jack Huston and Sam Riley have both portrayed author Jack Kerouac in separate films. Huston in Kill Your Darlings (2013) and Riley as Sal Paradise (a fictional version of Kerouac) in On the Road (2012).
Lily James and Aisling Loftus also starred together in the 2016 BBC adaptation War & Peace (2016).
The film is Lena Headey's 3rd collaboration with Charles Dance. They previously worked together on The Contractor (2007) and Game of Thrones (2011).

The trivia items below may give away important plot points.

Lena Heady does not appear in the flesh until 34 minutes into the film in a 3 second flashback. She doesn't get a proper introduction until 58 minutes. Added up her screen time throughout the film only amounts to 6 minutes despite top billing as part of the cast.
In Darcy's final fight with Wickham, you can hear Dies Irae in the soundtrack music.
