After being excluded from the Democratic Presidential Debate in October, former Senator and Presidential Candidate Mike Gravel held his own debate.
This is a very well made documentary about Governor/Senator Gravel and his exclusion from the Democratic debates. NBC chose to exclude him because he didn't earn enough money to merit his inclusion!! So, according to this leading news source, money alone determines who they cover in the elections! While I am not a fan of many of Gravel's policies, he had an excellent point when he stood up for himself and staged his own debate! Using a giant projection screen, he showed the actual debate and stopped it periodically to give his side--like he was really there with the other candidates. In addition, he made quite a few comments about politics and the fact that BOTH parties have lost sight of everything but winning.
Overall, an exceptional documentary. Whether you are on the right, left or in the middle, this film should make you mad about how the democratic process has been compromised--as has free speech (although, I guess according to NBC speech costs a minimum of $1,000,000). It's ability to anger you and provoke you is the mark of an excellent example of the genre.
