Release Date and Full Cast of Jon Favreau's Live-Action The Lion King Announced

  • Cinelinx
Disney has made it official! Here is the cast and the release date for Jon Favreau's upcoming live-action version of The Lion King!

Disney ended the day the only way they know how, with a bombshell. That bombshell comes in the form of the long-awaited release date for Jon Favreau's Live-Action adaptation of The Lion King. Citizens of the United States and Disney fans across the country will see Simba's journey on the big screen on July 19, 2019.

Unfortunately, that's a bit longer than most of us would like, but if it's anything like Favreau's last Disney film, the wait will be well worth it. Favreau's last film was a little diddy called The Jungle Book, which amassed over $966 million. It's understood that The Lion King will follow in that same vein, in terms of production. Also following what made The Jungle Book great was an all-star cast of voices.

Hellboy Star Compares Reboot to Shakespeare's Hamlet

Hellboy Star Compares Reboot to Shakespeare's Hamlet
With Lionsgate's Hellboy about to start shooting, star David Harbour recently made some interesting comments about the project, which may have fans looking at the reboot in a new light. While promoting Season 2 of his hit Netflix series Stranger Things, Harbour compared the overall story of Hellboy to the William Shakespeare classic play Hamlet. The actor had previously compared his Hopper character to characters in Hamlet, and when asked if this Hellboy reboot will also "borrow from classic stories," the actor had this to say.

"Comic books of our age are modern-day myths, similar to Agamemnon and those Greek legends. My biggest influence has always been Shakespeare. I have always loved taking stories, as Shakespeare did with something like Romeo and Juliet, these simple stories and making them very complex, with language and ideas. That's what I would love to do with the comic book world too, and I think

Friends, Romans, Cinemagoers

Chances are you will recognise the above title as an infamous line from William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar – but don’t panic, it’s not time to dust off your old school textbooks. Just that yours truly decided to pop along to his local cinema the other night for a screening with a difference. Broadcast live from the Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre in Stratford-Upon-Avon to the Reel Cinema in Grantham, no less, was their 2017 production of the historic play. I may never pay to go and watch a movie again.

Okay, so that’s more than a slight exaggeration, but amongst Beauty and the Beast, Their Finest and The Fate of the Furious, it just leapt out at me. As I had watched a version of Julius Caesar many moons ago on a school trip, I had an inkling of what to expect from the play itself. However, it was

The Eight Performances Cut From Terrence Malick Movies We’d Most Like to See
If you know what happened to Adrien Brody on “The Thin Red Line,” you know that filming scenes for a Terrence Malick movie doesn’t guarantee actually being in a Terrence Malick movie. Brody, who was originally positioned as the film’s lead, didn’t know until its premiere that his role had been drastically reduced; Christopher Plummer had a similar experience on “The New World.”

In the grand scheme of things, they’re lucky ones: More than a few actors have had their parts excised entirely, including one of the would-be stars of “Song to Song.” With that Austin-set romantic drama opening this week, it seemed like a good time to remind ourselves of what could have been.

Black Panther: Official Synopsis & Full Cast List Revealed!

Like many of Marvel Studio’s superheroes, Black Panther is one that could have been ruined by his execution in Captain America: Civil War. To get audiences to respond to a man who dressed up as — and fights like — a cat was bound to be difficult in a world that hops between sci-fi and grounded hyper-realism. Would Black Panther come across as intended, or would he look silly and campy in this universe of high-tech supers?

The result was a joy to watch. His fighting style was vicious, his costume amazingly faithful — and yet very practical. Better still was the character arc they managed to put in that film. On the heels of his father’s death, T’Challa was hell-bent on getting revenge. It was only after seeing the Avengers get torn apart that he realized the errors of his thinking.

So what’s next for Black Panther? We
