A suitably bleak start.

DI Chandler takes charge of a case, where it appears that someone is replicating the killings of Jack The Ripper.

I think it's a good start, it's very atmospheric, the dark streets give you an almost gothic vibe of London, they managed to somehow add a Ripperesque atmosphere.

The killings are brutal, the bodies badly mutilated, it's quite a gory start.

DI Chandler clearly has his work cut out with his new team, he's an interesting central character, obsessive? gay? fast tracked beyond his abilities? Time will tell.

Very good I thought. 8/10.

Formulaic Beginning

A new DC, Chandler, has just been certified. He has been assigned a police precinct which has become ineffective and slovenly. The men resent him immediately because he has some behaviors, including a sort of OCD. He is stiff and has no sense of humor. He is frustrated that they don't don't take him seriously. Because there seems to be little motivation, as he begins to investigate a ghastly crime, he rails at this men (they deserve a lot more but he is a neophyte. He meets a man who does Jack the Ripper tours on the London streets and this man gives him a book about the crimes of his subject. It turns out the victim was murdered in exactly the same way as the notorious killer over a hundred years previously. His lead cop thinks the guy is a crackpot, even when a second murder has a similar connection. He goes to the tour guide and to his book and sets up a stakeout. The results are quite interesting.

Police detectives?????

Just started watching on one of the Roku channels. Good premise. I like a whodunnit police procedural mystery, especially the British style, and the whole Ripper copycat storyline is very engaging. However... the DS staff resent the assignment of a new DI to their team. The behaviour is insubordinate, childish, stubborn and actually quite stupid. The main DS is so horrible and annoying I likely won't continue watching unless there is some evolution and character growth.
