The town of Ispani that was attacked in 1532 by the Saracen pirate Khair Ad-Din was used for the re-enactment scenes. Most of the buildings in the scenes are from the time period of the attack. Many of the extras are descendent's of survivors from pirate attacks. During the Saracen Pirate reign, more than one and a half million western Europeans were captured and sold in the slave markets of North Africa. See more
