In Honor of St. Patrick's Day, Let's Honor The Luck of the Irish, the Best Disney Channel Movie of All Time

Disney Channel original movies are a great part of our cultural heritage. There was a film for every youthful taste. For those who loved music, there was Camp Rock. If magic was your thing, then Halloweentown or Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie it was. Into aggressive inline skating? Brink all the way. And for movie fans that enjoyed watching hot jocks turn into leprechauns, there was nothing better than the entertainment institution The Luck of the Irish. How this film was robbed of any sort of awards accomplishment, we'll never know, but in the meantime we'll stick to celebrating its brilliance on our own. And there's no better time to take a walk down the...

Univision Makes It Four Straight Weekly Victories in Key Demo

Univision Makes It Four Straight Weekly Victories in Key Demo
The Major League Baseball All-Star Game on Fox may have been last week’s top program among young adults, but it alone wasn’t enough to carry the net to victory. Instead, Univision and its popular weeknight novelas proved too much once again.

Univision, which also got a boost from its annual youth awards show, stretched its primetime winning streak in the adults 18-49 to an unprecedented four straight weeks and will finish on top in a sweeps month — July is the least-followed of the four throughout the year — for the first time. The Spanish-language leader had broken through with another milestone earlier this year when it placed fourth in 18-49 for the first time in a February sweep (ahead of NBC).

ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox have a particularly tough time keeping up with Univision in the summer, as the latter airs all-original programming. And while the Big Four

'Teen Beach Movie' scores big ratings for Disney Channel

Time will tell if "Teen Beach Movie" becomes the phenomenon that "High School Musical" was, but it's off to a pretty great start.

The Disney Channel movie debuted Friday (July 19) to 8.4 million viewers, the biggest audience on all of TV for the night. About half that audience was made up of the kids and tweens that are Disney's core audience, but it also drew 1.6 million adults 18-49 -- also the best of the night.

By comparison, the first "High School Musical" drew 7.7 million viewers for its premiere in 2006 before exploding to 17.2 million viewers for "HSM2" the next year.

"Teen Beach Movie" is now the No. 3 Disney Channel original movie ever, behind "High School Musical 2" and "Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie," which brought in 11.4 million people in 2009.

Following the movie, the premiere of Disney's series "Liv & Maddie" scored a robust 5.8 million viewers.

Disney Channel Scores with ‘Teen Beach Movie’

Disney Channel Scores with ‘Teen Beach Movie’
Disney Channel caught a wave on Friday night, raking in 8.4 million viewers for its latest original telepic, “Teen Beach Movie.”

The broadcast-level turnout made “Teen Beach” Disney Channel’s most-watched telepic in four years — and a higher number than the 7.7 million that “High School Musical” delivered in its 2006 debut.

In key kid demos, “Teen Beach” was channel’s top original telepic in nearly six years and No. 3 among all Disney Channel movies to date (behind “High School Musical 2″ and “Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie”)

The strong showing is no surprise, given the months of heavy-duty promotion it received across various Mouse House outlets and other partners. The musical telepic, helmed by choreographer Jeffrey Hornaday, put a clever spin on the beach musical genre with stars Ross Lynch and Maia Mitchell playing surf-loving tweens who go back in time and get trapped in a 1960s beach party pic.

Among major youth demos,
