Storyline

70 critics and filmmakers discuss cinema from the age old conflict between the artist and the observer, the creator and the critic. From 1998 to 2007, Kleber Mendonça Filho has collected points of view about this relationship in Brazil, USA and Europe, using his personal experience as both filmmaker and critic. Crítico opens a window to an art which is more and more judged by the industry and which struggles to remain human in the way it is realized and observed. Written by Producer

"Every critic is an autobiography"
4 May 2009 | by (Portugal) – See all my reviews

In a century that critics are losing importance (because the availability of opinions on the internet), this film takes a stand a remembering us that critics are still here, and they still aren't ignored. This documentary shows us every side of critics. The good, the bad and the ugly. It doensn't stand up for critics but it also doesn't attack them. It's just pure truth. Even if you're not interested in critics this movie is a must see. And this isn't just a Brazilian film. It's a french film, a Spanish film, an American film, a Brazilian film. It's a film of the world.

Afterall, we are all characters in a film called life. (I have so much more to say, but sometimes people get speechless.)
