Trivia

James Darren had previously appeared on the show playing another pop star. This episode started a small trend on the show, where a new song was introduced by the record label owned by the studio. In this case "Goodbye Cruel World" was introduced and it helped the song reach #3 in the charts, which would be the biggest hit of Darren's career. A few months later, in "Donna's Prima Donna," Shelley Fabares would introduce her song "Johnny Angel," which would reach #1 in the charts. (For good measure, the song would be repeated on two more episodes.) Later on Paul Petersen would do the same with his song "She Can't Find her Keys." See more »
