On 21 October 1805, the British Royal Navy clashed with the combined fleets of the French and Spanish Navies at Cape Trafalgar, northwest of the Strait of Gibraltar, during the War of the Third Coalition of the Napoleonic Wars. On display at the battle was a varied arsenal of weaponry - from boarding cutlass' to flintlock pistols and explosives. In this video, History Hit presenters Luke Tomes and Louee Dessent spoke to weapons expert and fight director Keith Wallis to find out more about the weapons and how they were used.

Military historian James Holland climbs inside a refurbished and operational T-34 tank, the pride and joy of the Soviet Union during the Second World War. Introduced in 1940, the T-34 was famously deployed with the Red Army against Operation Barbarossa - Nazi Germany's doomed invasion of Russia. Its 76.2 mm tank gun was more powerful than its contemporaries while its 60-degree sloped armor provided good protection against anti-tank weapons. As Holland discovers, life for the crew of these tanks could be quite hazardous.

Military historian James Holland takes a closer look at the British A27M Cromwell Tank produced during 1944-1945. Part of the series of cruiser tanks fielded by Britain during the Second World War, the Cromwell has not enjoyed the same post-war reputation as the German Panzer or Russian T-34. Nevertheless, Holland attempts to give a balanced view of this tank's effectiveness, looking at its speed, armor and firepower.
