Hello Icons readers! Today we have a special interview with writer/director Ryan Spindell. An up and coming filmmaker whose short film The Root Of The Problem, screened recently at Elric Kane’s cinema sanctuary, The Jumpcut Café, along with many other shorts presented by horror providers such as Drew Daywalt (Bedfellows, Meat) who showed a private sneak peek of something he has been working on that is sure to scare the pants off of you upon its release. Also there, Mike Williamson who showed us an “oldie but goodie” as he puts it called In The Wall (2007). Even Fangoria’s own Rebekah McKendry showed off an awesome and hilarious short she directed starring John Dies At The End’s Chase Williamson called The Barista.

Horror writer/director Drew Daywalt dropped us a line today with word that he has written and will direct a new project entitled The Hurting Man that he promises will "scare the hell out of everyone!" Who needs chocolates with great news like that?

Writer/director Drew Daywalt (Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things, "Death Valley," Bedfellows) has just inked a deal with producer Eric B. Fleischman of Ebf Productions (Ritual, Two-Bit Waltz) to direct the horror feature The Hurting Man, based on Daywalt’s script. Indie horror luminary Larry Fessenden (Habit, The Last Winter) is attached as executive producer. The film goes into production this fall.
The Hurting Man follows the story of a police officer who tragically finds his family murdered after a failed 911 call and now must work to save their souls from a demonic boogieman haunting his childhood home.

Today we have a horrifically special Valentine's Day announcement for you. Horror writer/director Drew Daywalt (Bedfellows, Death Valley, Camera Obscura) will be directing the horror feature film The Hurting Man which is based on his own script. The movie will unveil a story which was ripped from one of Daywalt's most terrifying childhood fears.
The Hurting Man begins production this fall and Larry Fessenden is attached as Executive Producer.
Daywalt, Fleischman & Fessenden are not commenting on cast members yet, but promise that something amazing (including some big genre names) is in store for horror fans as well as everyone else interested in the art of storytelling.
While little else is known about the project at this point, we have been informed from sources close to the project that the terrifying boogeyman in this film will inspire iconic Halloween costumes for years to come.
