I really wanted to like this. Warning: Spoilers
I really wanted to like this. I really did. The plot looked interesting and the characters were interesting. I was pleasantly surprised to see main characters (Sheriff and family) who were not stereotypically white.

The little girl was fantastic. She held the entire movie together for me.

But I just couldn't buy the birth mother kidnapping her own kid. The birth mother shouldn't have a birth certificate if she gave the little girl up for adoption.

Was the little girl and her mom escaping from the birth mother? Is that why they were driving so far and so quickly in a single day? If so, why didn't the mom call authorities? She had every right to deny access. I wanted more backstory about the birth mom being so unhinged that the girl and her mom had to get away from her. The suicide at the end was pretty unbelievable, imho, and I say that as a mental health practioner.

We didn't really learn anything about this little girl at all. And anyone worth their salt would believe a little girl when she says this person is not her mom.

Too many plot holes for me to even begin to suspend disbelief, unfortunately. As I said, I really wanted to like this.

OMG I Cried So much at the end!!
wandernn1-81-68327418 March 2020
Just kidding. Altho it was well filmed this movie seemed pretty average. Was this a Lifetime movie of the week? That's the impression I had. Predictable plot. Not really any good twists or turns. Really can't give it more than a 5 and that's probably being generous.

Good potential, but major flaws
dhvollen27 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It was a decent movie, the some of the acting was a little stilted but genuine. There were three flaws. First, it is billed as a thriller/horror film. It is not a horror film. This could've been a Lifetime channel movie, easily. Second, (spoiler alert) it is easy to deduce that there are indeed two women involved and for reasons that undercut the story. The adoptive/driving mother never speaks to Jordan until the accident. What kind of mother doesn't talk or sing to or laugh with her little girl? When I write that the woman never made a word or sound to this little girl, I mean it - creepy silence. In fact, it was the only time I thought the movie might be a horror movie, the way the driving/adoptive mother never said a word to the little girl.No matter what Jordan said the adoptive mother says nothing until the car goes off the road and she instructs Jordan to go get help. So while the audience is unable to compare vocal traits, it's still pretty much given away from the complete lack of engagement from the adoptive/driving mother that you're dealing with two mothers. Ironically, the biological/kidnapping mother is totally engaging with Jordan. The third floor is, how easy would have been to simply check where is Jordan went to school or other living relatives to do a verification. I understand where they were isolated but people still have telephones and fax machines and cell phones.

Quite good
random_guy214 June 2010
I saw "Jordan" at the Waterfront Film Festival over the weekend and really enjoyed it; it was pretty easily the best of the films I had a chance to see. The plot was solid and the acting was quite good (most notably from the young girl who played Jordan -- that solid of acting from a child is rare), but I was most impressed with the deliberate, tense pacing of the film. Overall it was a very enjoyable thriller, with a surprisingly poignant ending.

The filmmakers and child actress were present for the screening I attended and answered a few questions, which was a nice extra treat.

(sorry, I needed more lines to meet the minimum)

Lazy Writing
gigibeezie15 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Are we supposed to believe that a 5 year old doesn't know who her mother is? Why didn't the police ask more questions about the accident?? The sheriffs KIDS seem to be smarter than the sheriff and his wife. This movie made no sense at all, it was very poorly written and acted. The little girl is the only redeeming quality of this film.

This film is in the horror and suspense drama?
andrewmcl83-170-76441614 September 2019
NOTHING scary, NOTHING suspenseful. Just a bad movie with bad actors that took til the final 10 minutes to build its plot. And im sorry to say but even the little girl was a bad actor.

Good idea, poor acting
sdoggett-0070426 August 2020
Little girl survives a car accident and leaves the upturned vehicle to find help for her trapped mother. Eventually gets to the nearer town and reunited with her mother by the police. But the girl claims the lady is NOT her Mum. Clever idea and interesting movie. But the acting is terrible (apart from the two youngest actors-the little girl and the 12 year old son of the cop). It was like they read their lines from cue cards in the background. The cop's wife NEVER smiles and seems more worried about forgetting her lines! Great story-but potential ruined by poorly chosen actors who mumbled to camera and weren't believable.

Surprisingly engaging
brent-fontes23 January 2019
I shouldn't like this movie. The writing and acting weren't great, but some how it kept me interested. I think it was the children working together and supporting each other that endeared me to the movie. It felt quite genuine and warm even with the relatively flat reading of their lines. It was also nice to see a positive Native American representation.

It was low budget, that part wasn't bad...
MagicMurderFan23 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The actress that plays the mother is from South Africa, I guess, but her accent was so weird and muddled and I know people from South Africa that don't sound like that. We couldn't figure out if she was trying to fake an accent or cover up her current one? Or act like she has a head injury?? She just seemed high. She wasn't overly likable because I was screaming speak up and the tv!! The plot had potential but like most others said, "needed more details".

An enjoyable, easy to watch drama.
kittycatbarton31 July 2018
I thoroughly enjoyed this film, it built tension throughout and there was some strong acting, especially from the actress playing Jordan. It was, I suspect, a low budget film, but they did really well with what they had. The setting was stunning and well filmed, and it was a plus to see a diverse cast. One criticism would be the sound. Often the music was too loud and the dialogue, especially in the hospital scenes, was far too quiet. I would rate this a 6.5.

Worth watching
eaglespiritnews-5694328 February 2019
After reading numerous reviews of such completely different ideas, I had to watch this one to form my own opinions. Being a long time movie buff myself I can understand the other people's views. However I completely differ with most of those opinions. It does start out a bit slow. But I thought the acting was good especially the little girl, who was quite believable for a 5 year old in such a devastatingly emotional part. The ending is a completely surprise! It's worth a watch. Get your own opinions.

interesting short film
TashE9929 January 2020
I enjoyed the story, yes it could have had more detail and special effects however it is a short film and it still showed the meaning of a mother daughter bond. I love that Jordan didn't stop fighting to find her mom and Eli believed her. if this movie were to become a more detailed story, I would want to know a little more back story, who the imposter was and why she was following them. I would want to know more about how Eli believed Jordan about the imposter. overall, I think it was worth the time, it shows great teamwork, strength and resiliency.

Boring
Fancytower13 March 2018
Plot is about a little girl on a road trip with her mother. They have an accident and the littler girl gets help. The mom eventually shows up and the little girl claims that the woman that show up is not her mom.

I'm not sure how this film was labeled a psychological thriller or even drama. It's very slow moving and the characters are so uninteresting that you will probably find yourself doing something else during the movie like playing soduko . It isn't a bad movie if you can watch it for free while doing laundry but I wouldn't waste any other time on it. Also, the background noise is so loud that one can barely hear the conversations.

I still dont know what was going on!?
bblloyd10 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I still dont kjow who that lady was and why she wanted the kid. And why we just shoot people running away carrying a child and leave them to jump off of a bridge. Very poor movie. My kid could probably write a more realistic movie. I would hope any sheriff with a brain should question a child not wanting to go with a person claiming to be their mom! If a kid says that's not my mom... I'm not sending said kid away

Boring
crosbyp1200316 March 2019
I thought it was a horror movie. It wasn't a good psychological thriller for that matter. Good acting by the children . Good too see a Mexican family portrayed. Other than that this was slow and needed more depth in writing. The premise was good but the results sucked.

So Much Potential with this story line but MEH
sueacorson17 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The two kids Jordan and Eli saved the movie. The rest of the actors came across awkward and inexperienced. Sooo many holes in this movie. For example was the adopted mother aware that the biological Mom was following them. Was she running from her and was this why they were moving. My heart did go out to the bio Mom. She obviously loved her little girl very much and suffered a great deal from her decision to give her up when Jordan was 7 months old. Her pain was evident. It was difficult to relate to the adoptive Mom when she didn't seem to engage at all with the little girl during the drive prior to the accident. Most parents engage with their child when they ask questions during a drive. Also no adults questioning that when a 5 year old states a woman usn't her mother, she is likely telling the truth. I think this movie had incredible potential but it fell flat.

Great beginning, good ending, missing ties
billsoccer24 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
An accident occurs. A girl escapes the wrecked auto, where her mother is trapped. She finds help. Her mother appears at the police station and wants to take her but the girl insists the woman isn't her mother.

The paradox is tied up neatly at the end. This had the making of a very fine movie. My problem is now the answer came. The clues as to how the 'fake' mother came to this point, and how she pulled it off - if they were in the movie, you'd better not blink, because you'll miss it!

I hope I'm wrong and was repeatedly distracted from the clues. Perhaps you won't be, for as I say, the plot is unique and promising. Perhaps a studio will pick it and and fix the shortcomings

Promising concept. Poor execution.
dmr586 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There are so many issues with this movie its hard to know where to begin. Fake Mum's accent. Fake Mum's head injury moving from one side of her head to the other. Really BAD acting. Not to mention what sheriff would allow anyone to take a child who was so insistent the woman was not her mother, without further investigation? And how come it took 2 kids to find the real mother in the rolled over car? Need i mention the sound issues. Voices you can hardly hear vs music, sirens etc so loud I nearly jumped out if my chair. Really bad camera work in too many places to mention.

Still.... despite all that there is a story here and wanting to know how it turned out was the only thing that kept me going through the horrible execution.

Dumb and slow
Designer2724 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This would only be good if it were a high school film class project. The science near the end where the fake mom is so distraught that she just jumps off the bridge and the sheriff just glances over his shoulder at her ... does nothing , no other reaction...about as believable as the rest of this stupid movie. Also , how did the car go miles off the road into the thick woods , and upside down no less ?!?! I guess it just flew and the trees parted and the car just landed there. Too stupid. Also seems like the whole town only had 1 family and 2 other people who worked at the sheriffs office , low budget , I get it , but come on...

Good clean movie
delores05210 January 2021
No sex or violence. That in itself makes this movie an oddity. But the little girl was a good actor. The secondary characters were good also. You pretty much know the way the story will go but you still want to watch to see the ending ng

This movie was suspenseful .It kept you wondering why the girl kept saying she was not her mom.It was good to see Native Americans in the storyline as well a diversity in this movie. The end made sense and It wasn't what I thought .I thought all kinds of things like she was a ghost or an alien but you have to watch the movie to see the ending.Good acting especially the kids.

Rewarding watch if you like this sort of thing, and I do
cmoondot9 April 2023
Okay, so the budget wasn't massive, A couple of the actors needed more direction; and -yes!-major probs with sound to put it mildly. But this was a highly watchable - faces, landscapes, essential mystery - suspense movie. Zaragoza was a believable chill sheriff. Liezel Carstens was an intriguing baddie, lots of dark depth there, can see her doing vampire stuff, what happened to her? The kid heroine did very well considering a few improbabilities in the initial story line. The young boys also played well despite little experience. The ending wrapped things up well. Editing fine, and great colour. 6.5 actually. Enjoyed it. (Not a horror, tho'.)
