The Japanese submarine appears to be manned by Japanese natives. However, at no point do any of the crewmen speak anything other than English. In fact, none of them even have an accent.

An early scene shows stock footage of what is labeled a U.S. Navy destroyer attacking the shark. Actually it is an Iowa class battleship not a destroyer. The U.S. Navy no longer has any battleships in active service.

The lever that the helicopter pilot pulls at the beginning to "deploy the LFAS" is actually a rotor brake, designed to slow and stop the rotor system from turning.

When the Iowa Class battleship is attacked by the Megalodon, it attacks their starboard side at impossible speeds, however, the ship fires it's main guns (a digital effect) while aiming straight ahead. Not only are the guns not aimed at the threat, they don't recoil, nor exhibit any of the blast effects of a main gun firing.

The modern Japanese army is shown wearing US camouflage uniforms and (obviously) plastic "airsoft" M16 rifles. The Modern Japanese military has their own indigenous camouflage uniform and battle rifle, so they would not be using obsolete American items. Also, just like the U.S. military, when 'at arms' they would not be "bare headed", they would have either their duty hat or helmet on.

The helicopter pilot has no microphone on his helmet. Even with extensive soundproofing, a helicopter makes too much noise for an occupant to be heard over the intercom/radio without a boom mic.

The Japanese oil rig seen in the early Octopus attack is labeled as the 'Kobayshi Subsea Drilling Platform'. There is no way to pronounce the word Kobayshi using the Japanese language and it was likely meant to read 'Kobayashi'.
