Everyone, It Seems, Loves Fried Foods!
17 May 2010 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Oh, boy, do we human beings love fried food - all around the world, too, not just here in America.

It is noted, however, at the beginning of this episode that Americans consume over four billion pounds of french fries every year, along with 10 million pounds of donuts and 24 million pounds of fried chicken! Those items, along with funnel cakes, hash browns, hot dog-on-a-stick, and a bunch of other foods dipped in the fryer sure look tasty on this program. Thanks to "Chicken Charlie's" at the L.A. County Fair, we even see friend Twinkies and deep-fried Coca-Cola! In fact, watching this program will amaze you on how many food items are fried and all said to taste marvelous, whether the tasters are from Japan, Mexico or the U.S.......wherever. As one guy states, "Fat is the key to taste....and everything tastes better fried." Well, fortunately, those oils are now healthy and less cholesterol-filled, so people are eating healthier fried foods today.

Also on this program is the history of the cast-iron pan, which did most of the cookie for many years in the U.S., and the history of Kentucky Fried Chicken, and a few other famous businesses. We also get some lessons on how to properly use the wok for our stir-fry favorites.

All in all, this is another Modern Marvels food edition that makes you want to run out and buy things we probably shouldn't put in our stomach! Man, this stuff looks good!
