Professionally produced by high school students
12 September 2010 | by (San Diego, CA USA) – See all my reviews

This documentary by Carlsbad High School Students under the direction of their broadcasting teacher, Douglas Green, was produced, directed and edited extremely well for a group of young aspiring filmmakers. I felt as though I was watching a professionally produced documentary during the entire film. Most of the students on this project had no prior connection to the Holocaust. Yet they were able to send a powerful message to young people throughout the world through the media of film that transcends the ability of individual school districts to educate students on historical events through traditional methods. I would encourage educators at public and religious schools throughout the world to seriously consider screening this film for their students. Given the turmoil of recent media highlights showing a lack of tolerance of other religions both in the US and in Europe, "We Must Remember" offers a fresh perspective on how teenagers can learn about events which some of their own grandparents may have witnessed showing how evil and intolerance can easily spread to genocide.

I believe the film's success has provided not only worldwide visibility for Mr. Green's program, but also support from organizations and film equipment manufacturers, allowing them to distribute the movie, continue the program and produce more documentaries from students to students. It is a great model for other schools with media programs to emulate. I hope that this program continues to receive foundation support for years into the future.
