A comprehensive look at a brutal match type

Hell in a Cell has a great ability to get people interested in stale feuds, create bloody, brutal fights, and allow almost anyone to have a good match inside. In fact the only exception to that rule, Undertaker's rather bizarre, grotesque match with Big Boss Man from Wrestlemania 15 is the only one left off this disc.

Our tour guide is Mick Foley, and though he gives little new information, he's a perfect choice as the matches speak for themselves.

The first match on the disc is arguably the pick of the bunch, with Shawn Micheals defeating the Undertaker after interference from Kane in one of the best matches ever seen in the WWE. Shawn Micheals climbs up the inside of the cage, then up the outside and then falls off the top in a superb one man display. The Undertaker takes his share of punishment also.

Next is the short Tag Team Hell in a Cell match where Stone Cold and the Undertaker took on Mankind and Kane, which led into the next match, the legendary scrap between Mankind and the Undertaker where Foley was thrown off the cage, then through the cage and finally dropped onto thumb tacks a few times in the match which made his career.

This is followed by another RAW Hell in a Cell match this time featuring Mankind and Kane, which ended in a DQ.

Next is another great Foley match, his first retirement from No Way Out 2000, where he is beaten by Triple H after falling through the top of the cell and then through the ring. THe next match, and last on the first disc is the six man Hell in a Cell match where Kurt Angle defeated The Rock, Steve Austin, Rikishi, The Undertaker and Triple H at Armageddon 2000. This is an entertaining, chaotic match, best remembered for the Undertaker chokeslamming Rikishi from the top of the cage onto the back of a hay truck.

Next is a slightly disappointing match between Triple H and Chris Jericho from Judgment Day 2002. Foley gives away the ending before the fight starts, and the action and crowd reactions are noticeably weaker than any of the earlier matches. For those wondering, Triple H pins Jericho on top of the cell.

This brings us to another excellent match, Brock Lesnar's blood soaked victory over the Undertaker from No Mercy 2002. This is a tremendous brawl with a gripping climax.

Next is Triple H's victory over Kevin Nash from Bad Blood 2003. This is another good match, an absolute miracle given Nash's other output from 2003. The second disc ends with the disappointing match between Triple H and Shawn Micheals from Bad Blood 2004. While tremendous from a technical standpoint and having terrific psychology and storytelling the match was too slow for the stipulation and the crowd was dead throughout.

The third disc starts with another great match with Batista defeating Triple H at Vengeance 2005. This is "The Animal's" finest hour. This is followed by a quality match between the Undertaker and Randy Orton from Armageddon 2005, culminating their year long feud.

Next up is the biggest and dumbest of all Hell in a Cell matches as Triple H and Shawn Micheals defeated Vince and Shane McMahon and the Big Show at Unforgiven 2006. This is a mixture of brawling, brutality and comedy and doe the job, but is probably the weakest PPV match in this collection.

The DVD ends on a high note with Batista's Edge-assisted victory over the Undertaker at Survivor Series 2007.

There are a lot of good matches on this, but a couple of long winded ones as well. All but one of the matches has either Undertaker or Triple H in it. Overall this is a quality collection featuring some great wrestlers and wrestling. A fine addition to any DVD collection.
