Anyone driving Utah highways in 1982 . . .

. . . such as my dad, was taking their life in their hands, it turns out, since Eon Production Company was flying explosives-filled drones over some of America's most beautiful scenery during the filming of OCTOPU$$Y, John Glen, that feature's director, reports here. So while the other John Glenn was waiting patiently for the chance to go BACK into space, and dad and many other innocent U.S. citizens could have beat Virginian Anwar Al-Awlaki to the punch in becoming the first American blasted into space by a drone attack. Mr. Glen says it was sheer luck that Eon's pilot-less Beech aircraft did not blow my dad or a future U.S. President to bits. Eon had a well-deserved industry reputation for playing "fast and loose" where safety was concerned, whether it was its aerial cameraman losing a leg shooting YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, or Roger Moore's stunt double on the circus train breaking his hip and Moore's saw blade yo-yo attacker busting an arm making OCTOPU$$Y. I'm just glad they didn't blow up my dad!
