Halloween is filled with with sugarcoated frights, but throughout history, the night before the big “31” on the calendar has featured more tricks than treats. Blumhouse Productions is looking to bring the chaos of Halloween Eve to the big screen with a new film they are developing that is appropriately titled Devil’s Night.

Mti Home Video will release Ivan Zuccon's (Colour from the Dark) Wrath of Crows. The release date is scheduled this summer. And, the film was developed from Gerardo Di Filippo's script. The story involves a hellish prison and several prisoners. These prisoners are each held for a reason, though. Tiffany Shepis (The Prometheus Project), Debbie Rochon (Santa Claws), Tara Cardinal, Domiziano Arcangeli and Suzi Lorraine star in this horror feature. Early reviews have been a mixed bag. Mike Thomas of Matchflick liked the film's acting: "Wrath of the Crows, albeit a very confusing title, is an intense morality play with very strong performances from the entire cast." Many of those in the cast are no strangers to horror. Meanwhile, Thomas T. Sueyres of Original Vid was unsurprised by the twists within the film: "Zuccon may pull the rug out from under the viewer once too often and one

On the Big Screen: "Insidious: Chapter 2"

The "Insidious" sequel is jam packed with creepy toddler walkers, terrifying rocking horses, and freaky baby monitors. You will never feel the same in a Babies "R" Us again.

On the Boob Tube: "The Frankenstein Syndrome"

The Frankenstein Syndrome (Review - New to video this week)

2010 - 90 mins. - Rated R

D: Sean Tretta

C: Patti Tindall, Scott Anthony Leet, Tiffany Shepis, Louis Mandylor, Ed Lauter, Noah Todd, Joe Ricci, Sebastian Kunnappilly, Zena Otsuka, Jonathan Northover, David C. Hayes, Richard Anderson, Kevin Tye, Michael Tassoni

Group of scientists discover a method of reanimating the dead through stem cell research that results in a gunshot victim being brought back to life, but things go awry as he takes on violent tendencies.

Muddled, though intriguing film introduces Tiffany Shepis as the narrator and lead character of the film. However, her character isn't as instrumental to the story as some of the other characters and she ends up fading into the background for most of the second half. Still, she turns in one of the best performances of her career, to date. The story charts into standard stalk and slash in the last act. And the overall story doesn't feel complete.

Review: The Frankenstein Syndrome DVD

Studio: Mti | Director: Sean Tretta | Cast: Tiffany Shepis, Louis Mandylor, Ed Lauter, Scott Anthony Leet

Release Date: 7/12/11 | Price: DVD $24.95

Bonuses: commentary, alternate openings with commentary, alternate and deleted scenes with commentary

Specs: Nr | 90 min. | Science fiction horror | 1.77:1 widescreen | Dolby Digital 5.1 | English and Spanish subtitles

Ratings (out of 5): Movie | Audio | Video | Overall

You can’t blame Tiffany Shepis (Trade In) for trying to make create some more interesting work for herself as she does here, where she’s credited as one of four producers and cast as a genetic scientist. (Not that she’s hurting for work—the IMDb shows she’s signed on for 22 more films after this one in 2010.) But our favorite B-Actress could do better than a film that 1) requires her to wear a mask for many scenes, and 2) has a little bit more coherency, tension, drama, suspense . . . you know, stuff that keeps a viewer interested.

New Release: The Frankenstein Syndrome DVD

Mti will release the horror movie The Frankenstein Syndrome, a contemporary re-imagining of Mary Shelley’s classic novel Frankenstein, on DVD on July 5 for a list price of $24.95.

Something monstrous this way comes in The Frankenstein Syndrome.

Written, directed and produced by Sean Tretta (The Great American Snuff Film), The Frankenstein Syndrome focuses on a beautiful stem-cell researcher Elizabeth Barnes (Tiffany Shepis, Bonnie and Clyde Vs. Dracula), who joins a secret research group in attempting to develop a stem-cell-based universal healing serum. Despite opposition, she quickly develops a serum that can bring the dead back to life – but with horrific results that involve lots of mayhem, lots of murders and a good deal of blood, as well.

A 2010 production, the film also stars Louis Mandylor (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Scott Anthony Leet (Abandoned) and Ed Lauter (Magic).

The Frankenstein Syndrome made some noise last year, picking up awards at various horror film fests,

The Frankenstein Syndrome and the Tale of the Modern Prometheus: A Movie Review

*a screener of this film was provided by Mti Home Video.

Director: Sean Tretta.

Writers: Mary Shelley and Sean Tretta.

The tale of Prometheus is one of epic Greek proportions. Consisting of three dramas, one about the Titan's heroic refusal to submit to Zeus' rule, the other of Zeus' realization to develop maturity and the last, perhaps lost to time, probably about his reconciliation with the rebel god Prometheus. The poet Hesiod was the first to develop this myth and portions of it can be found in Mary Shelley's seminal ghost story, Frankenstein.

In her tale, she reveals how Dr. Frankenstein is playing with fire. He is playing god by giving life to where it ceased to exist, and that ultimately destroys him. The monster he creates is a dodgy figure but by that story’s end, it reveals itself to a god-fearing sailor and demonstrates remorse when the rugged doctor finally dies.

Knock Back A Six Pack Of Energy Drinks You’ll Need It For The Frankenstein Syndrome (2011)

A group of researchers conducting illegal stem cell research discover a cell anomaly that has the potential to regenerate dead tissue. Unable to conduct legal human trials, the researchers turn to corpses to test their serum in The Frankenstein Syndrome starring Tiffany Shepis (Elizabeth Barnes), Ed Lauter (Dr. Walton), and Louis Mandylor (Marcus).

Inspired by Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein this addition to the medical experiment gone wrong sub genre falls short of being anything beyond mediocre. The story suffers greatly from lack of overall interesting content and is dragged out to the point where I found dying for the end credits to make their appearance. On top of the very yawn inducing script you are given short doses of sub par special effects, where most of the gore takes place out of shot quickly becoming a big let down for those hoping the film would be saved to some degree

DVD Review: The Frankenstein Syndrome

The Frankenstein Syndrome is a film based on the Mary Shelley story we all know. In this case though, we get a modern day horror tale that is also very original in its own right.

Writer and director Sean Tretta has put together a unique vision. This is still very much a Frankenstein story, it just has new characters to play with like Dr. Elizabeth Barnes ( Tiffany Shepis) who we see in the very beginning running from something and then the movie fast forwards to her wearing a mask and wheel chair bound being interrogated by investigators. This is where her story begins.

What happens is Barnes get recruited by Dr. Walton (Ed Lauter) who has this team of doctors trying to find a cure for cancer in some sort of underground lab where we see their test subjects are humans. David (Scott Anthony Leet) is one of the unlucky

The story leads them to the isolated town of Arkham Heights, where they find themselves interviewing Emmett (Lance Henriksen, Near Dark, The Terminator, Aliens), who possesses an all-too intimate knowledge of the details of "The County Line Cannibal" – Cyrus (Brian Krause, Charmed, Sleepwalkers). As Emmett interweaves the macabre life tale of Cyrus with the story
