Storyline

Bobby and his grandfather have reached the end of their resources and they sit in their shabby garret wondering what is to become of them. Grandfather is too old to work and he is estranged from his only brother, a well-to-do farmer in Vermont. But the brother writes telling him to "forget the past" and bring himself and Bobby to the farm to live. The two have no money for railroad fares, but bravely begin the long walk. They are almost at grandfather's brother's home when they come to a sign post which mischievous boys have changed so that they think they are still very far from friends and, discouraged, crawl into an empty corn-crib to rest. Too hungry to sleep, Bobby goes out to forage and meets Jacqueline, who falls in love with him on the spot, obtains him food and even steals her grandfather's watch so the wayfarers may know when to rise and resume their journey in the morning. But the owner of the corn-crib is bitter against tramps, and when he sees Bobby and Grandfather emerge... Written by Moving Picture World synopsis
