What happened???
dimi_tris8522 January 2022
I am watching it right now and I stopped it because of director holes!! What happened??? They are at the scene at the accident and they are waiting a second car to come cross and boom! Seconds later they are continuing the talk. Did Someone not care cutting it out correctly?

And that they are all so calm after the accident is not normal but let's see what comes next...

Until now almost at the end of the episode have nothing to do with the film. Do not have to be the same but the sparkle is not there. Though the acting is decent. The director and filming are not great.

Off to a cringey start

So many bad lines & unrealistic behavior, but somehow it pulls you in near the end to keep you going even though you know it's already way off the rails & not in the way it intends. It's really trying too hard in the first couple of episodes, but the more you watch it, the more you can forgive all the ridiculousness & just downright terrible convos. You really have to be forgiving watching this, but luckily it does get a bit more gripping, and you start to just accept it for what it is & keep going. I'm not surprised if a lot of people stop after one episode though.

It worked for Scream, but.......
Sleepin_Dragon16 October 2021
I'm not sure this episode worked in the same way that Scream's first episode did, that gripped me, this made me feel sleepy.

It's nicely produced, the acting is ok, and if you're a fan of the film, as I am, you'll already like the story. It is however fundamentally flawed.

It doesn't flow well, it's jumping about too much, which made it slightly frustrating to stick with, and when they finally get the chance of a dramatic moment, the big event, they play it down too much.

I plan to stick with it, I have hopes for it, but it really needs to be better than this. They've taken a cracking horror movie, and made it boring.

4/10.

Fantastic pilot for a promising show

Warning: Spoilers
I came to the show with low expectations but I was genuinely surprised.

First of all, that twist is what this show needed. It just changed the game for a rather known movie. It adds an interesting exploration to accidental death of a loved one. Second, this show is more of a mystery than a slasher and I am glad it is. It gives more opportunites to expand the show. And lastly, the characters are all written well. They have depth, they are just not stereotypes for the bodycount. We actually take account their flaws to their characterization.

This show pleasantly surprised me and I am glad.

Cringe

Is it too difficult to craft interesting teenage characters in the horror genre?

Terrible direction, execution and script. The dialogues are really bad.

This makes the original look as a masterpiece.

Fresh take on an old IP
eloy_urias15 October 2021
Coming into the show I had moderate expectations for it especially considering James Wan was an executive producer on the first episode as well as his production team. Only sharing the title with its movie predecessor, this new iteration of I Know What You Did Last Summer brings a fresh spin on the long dormant franchise. Sprinkling enough clues throughout the first episode to leave you with many questions. With a great cast of familiar faces, I'm excited to see where this series will go from here.

Very beginner acting
ibrahimkamala28 October 2021
The acting was really very bad, slow, dull, and Shallow, the idea of the series is nice , it could have been good but the acting was very horrible, I will give it another chance for second episode hoping things will get better.

Who gave this the green light?

First impressions count and a pilot episode should be one if not the most important episode(s) of a TV series. When attempting to do an adaptation with an already established fan-base, it's important to treat the franchise with respect all whilst attempting to creatively reel in a new audience, the 'new generation'. But, I feel that this is where it has failed miserably. It's a 'try-hard' of a show, that's tried way to hard to be what it believes to be in the 'now' - seducing the new generation into viewing the series through trashy parties, same-sex relationships, drugs, nudity and surface level dialogue that leaves viewers with no real essence nor any suspense. Nothing seems heart-felt with every character lacking depth and revising lines without no real emotion. The remarkable and touching element of a TV series is that viewers are able to establish connections with characters, and watch them evolve through the episodes. This series however has introduced us to the most shallow of characters, it makes it utterly hard to connect with any of them let alone root for them to survive. As a pilot episode, there wasn't much offered to allow me, the viewer, to continue watching any further - judging by the impression it's made, I feel that the remainder of the series will be heading in this terrible direction. Unfortunately. A terrible and distasteful introduction for even the 'new generation'.

Um, that was GOOD

First of all, I can't believe that I'm watching "I Know What You Did Last Summer" on a TV show adaption! I'm a huge fan of the franchise and I was so hyped about the TV show. The plot of episode 1, was very interesting and kinda similar to the movie. The storyline was very well written, so clever. The characters seem very well-developed. The location of the movie (Hawaii) is AMAZING. The casting is so good, I really like them all. Acting, was very nice, too! I have to admit that I expected to be more bloodier and gorier (just like the movies). However, there was some blood and some kills.. By the way, I really like their outfits, they're iconic. Gen Z vibes, for sure. Last but not least, the plot twist was totally UNEXPECTED and it was so shocking. Can't wait to watch, episode 2.
