Less Than Garbage!!!
kristhayil30 October 2016
I cannot complain too much, as I got this flick for less than a quarter; but what I thought were going to be some sweet surfing scenes only took up about ten minutes of the film. Otherwise a dull plot of 5 pathetic midlife men pretending they are in college again. All divorced, all going through the mid-crys, all lame!!! There is even a silly scene where they 'hook up' with a van of 20 year old college girls; which never would happen!!! After a while, you'll end up just fast forwarding to the surf scenes; which are all in intervals and only last 30-60 seconds. So you'll do a lot of skipping. The one star rating was the lowest IMDb has, otherwise I would have given it 0 to 0.5 star! Just terrible!!!

It has to be a Student Movie
arfdawg-122 May 2014
First off: DO NOT believe the two other reviews for this film on IMDb. They are CLEARLY written by clowns who worked on the movie. How can one tell? Well, they never wrote another review -- why would they review this one? Then, to add insult to injury, they give the film 10 stars!!!

Ridiculous.

It's poorly written. Poorly acted. Poorly directed.

And the story is silly.

I actually think this is a college student film.

Here's the inane plot

David Gram, a pharmaceutical sales rep, takes advantage of an opportunity to win over a client set in a remote territory, which would make him top sales rep of the year. This is the genesis of the idea for an all out business mixed with pleasure road trip/surf safari up the California coast with his four buddies in a classic 1950 Ford Woody. Along the way, David is outraged when he encounters his estranged wife, whose newly acquired job as sales rep for his competitor, is on her way to win the same client. The race is on.

Fun, truly independent movie, in need of repair
Jamesact218 June 2014
Cute, fun, truly independent movie -- but one that should be shown to all film school students as an example of the subtle differences between an "okay" movie and one that becomes an underground cult classic (e.g., Wes Anderson's Bottle Rocket or El Mariachi by Robert Rodriguez). Yes, the script could use some help, and the acting is comparable to what you might find on daytime soaps. But most of the flaws could be resolved through additional post-production processing and editing. The foundation for a good (possibly classic) cult film is all there. But if you can imagine yourself as a maker of fun home- movies and this is something you banged out in your spare time over the past couple of months, this movie is amazing. in that spirit, its a fun ride.

Great movie, great message, highly recommend!

I REALLY love this film! It's a total "guys" movie and kind of a chick flick rolled into one. It's got a really great underlying message and is fun to watch. The characters are goofy and lovable! The comradery of the guys really comes across and you feel like you are going on their adventure with them! The writer/director of this film must have a good sense or understanding of women, too, because of the strong female characters in the film. I think about this film a lot and could watch it over and over. I give it a 10 out of 10 star rating and highly recommend it when you're in the mood for an uplifting, funny and sometimes sensitive 'feel good' movie! I'm really impressed by this indie film and would love to see what this director could do with a serious budget. I hope to see more of his work in the future. Great cast too... all the guys are really funny. I LOVE the English actor in this, Crispian Belfrage! He is SO funny! I recently saw him in The Donner Party with Crispin Glover on Showtime. I also recognized Marlon Grace from an awesome movie I saw awhile ago with Joshua Jackson and Dennis Hopper, I think it's called Americano? Anyway, Road Reps is a truly great movie that's fun to watch and has a great message. I'll be eager to see the next film this production team puts out.

A delightful journey

Road Reps is a movie that supports a cultural obsession with the belief that tomorrow is another day. A road trip is the passage that leads to the possibility of a new beginning, enlightenment and freedom from the past. This movie inspires me to go on a road trip. Though the story is not about surfing the film has some fun surfing footage along with a wonderful depiction of the California landscape. Great characters. If the actors are not all good friends with each other in real life, then they all gave the most realistic and convincing performance. I love the sub theme of Native American wisdom. Not only is Road Reps a fun movie, it also has a heart felt story. Road Reps is in the same vein as "Sideways" (staring Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church) and 1985's cult film "Fandango" (staring Kevin Costner and Judd Nelson). Road Reps has potential to be a cult classic. I highly recommend watching this movie.
