For quite some time Justin Long has been the face of the middling romantic comedy genre. The actor has led a string of relatively low-profile films about down on their luck dudes pining for lost loves and manic pixie dream girls (“Going The Distance,” “A Case Of You,” “Comet”). But while Long-fronted pictures haven’t always fared well (“Comet” was at least interesting), he has mostly managed to remain a welcome, if quantifiable presence, thus giving us reason to remain hopeful for his upcoming dramedy “Literally, Right Before Aaron,” which pairs him with the delightful Cobie Smulders.

Drew Barrymore Thought She Got High Off Fake Weed While on Set, Recalls Prop Expert

Drew Barrymore might have been smoking fake weed while shooting the 2010 film Going the Distance, but apparently it felt pretty real to her.

“There was a scene with Drew Barrymore and Justin Long where they smoke out of a bong, and it was kind of a mixed experience,” prop specialist Jeff Butcher tells Refinery29.

Butcher says for scenes such as this, he gets a "herb that looks like weed but doesn’t get you high."

"I spent like an hour smoking this bong to try and make it look like a bong that had been smoked in before," he recalls. "And then, you know, we did the scene and Drew thought that she was high and the directors thought that she was high!"

Here’s a film shoot Drew Barrymore won’t easily forget.

According to a Hollywood prop expert who specializes in faking drug use for movies, the actress once thought she got stoned off the faux marijuana used in her 2010 film Going the Distance.

“There was a scene with Drew Barrymore and Justin Long where they smoke out of a bong, and it was kind of a mixed experience,” prop specialist Jeff Butcher told Refinery29.
