Did You Know?

The series was originally scheduled to premiere in 2002 on Fox Kids. But Fox sold their children's programming division during pre-production. Fox tried to sell the series to many networks but none of them would pick it up. In 2004, a four-minute pilot was made but still no network would buy it. See more »

Not really Buffy
9 November 2015 | by (Berlin, Germany) – See all my reviews

The title of this 4-minute movie basically says it all. this 4-minute cartoon is an animated take on the successful Buffy television series that was done roughly one year after the live action series ended. They got basically all the actors from the "real" series voicing their animated selves in here, with one exception: Sarah Michelle Gellar was not on board to voice the title character. And while it looked okay early on, the ending was really strange with Buffy being abducted by a huge black dragon-like creature, but manages not to get swallowed and opens the beast's moth from inside before the film ends. This had really nothing to do with Buffy the way we know her. Good for them trying to take a different route as they could certainly not have topped the live action series anyway, but I don't think this was the right way to go. Anyway, maybe Buffy got swallowed after the film ended as this was not taken up for further episodes and stayed a one-time short movie. I am not too mad about it because judging from this one here, I would not have been too interested in more episodes. Not recommended.
