- As the episode opens, we see a beautiful modern mansion on the coast of California. Inside, and older man is seen playing a concerto on the piano. His phone rings and he picks it up. The man on the other end is John Kreese, and the man on the piano hangs up immediately and continues playing.
In the Valley, training with the now-combined Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang Karate dojos starts off very rough. Daniel is frustrated at the Eagle Fang students' overly aggressive fighting style, and Johnny is impatient with the Miyagi-Dos' constant focus on defense with no attacks. Nevertheless, they complete a chaotic first days' training of sparring, cleaning, and obstacle course running.
At the Cobra Kai dojo, Tory is training hard, angry at losing another fight with Samantha LaRusso during the Christmas fight at the LaRussos' home some time earlier. Robby enters to tell Kreese he is leaving, and he never joined Cobra Kai in the first place. Kreese convinces him to stay and train with the other Cobras for the tournament. Robby is sure that with Daniel and Johnny teaming up, they don't stand a chance, but Kreese assures him that he has his own partner in mind.
Daniel and Samantha arrive home from training and accidentally set off their new security alarm, installed after the events of the previous season. Amanda and Daniel are troubled by the current situation, but with their business still needing good PR, and with Kreese's influence, they cannot go to the police. Miguel and Johnny meanwhile are having dinner in Johnny's apartment with Carmen and Miguel's Yaya. Miguel lets slip that Johnny recently spent time with his former love, Ali Mills, which upsets Carmen, who tells Johnny they should take their relationship slow.
Kreese goes to Terry Silver's house on the coast, accidentally crashing a cocktail party with Silver's high society friends. Terry is shocked to see him, but his lady friend is thrilled to meet him and invites him to stay for the party.
Seeing no way to have two senseis teaching all of the students, Daniel and Johnny train their own students in separate parts of the Miyagi-Do dojo. Eli/Hawk is ostracized by the other Eagle Fang students and Johnny for his previous loyalty to Kreese, and he is made the training dummy for the others' kicks and punches for the day.
Tory finds Robby training alone at Cobra Kai and angerly tells him she thinks he is weak for still having feelings for Sam. At Silver's party, the other guests mock karate and Kreese, enraging him, and he reminds Silver of their time in Vietnam. The separate training is not going to plan. Johnny is interrupting Daniel's lessons with his shouting, and while they argue, Hawk is further made to feel like an outsider by the Miyagi-Dos. When he expresses concern, Daniel snaps at him for all he's done, though he immediately regrets losing his temper. Johnny is discouraged and wants to split up the dojos again, but Miguel tells him they have to keep trying while Sam goes to attempt to make peace with Robby, who refuses to give in to Sam again.
That evening, Kreese is trying to convince Silver to help him train the Cobra Kais for the upcoming tournament, in which the loser must close their dojo and never teach karate again. Terry refuses, saying that he is not the same man he was in 1985, a man so hopped up on drugs and vengeance that he spent months tormenting a teenager over a high school karate grudge. After Daniel won the tournament against Mike Barnes and Kreese disappeared, Terry got cleaned up and attended therapy, which he insists gave him peace. The last thing he wants with Kreese back in his life. Kreese reiterates his invitation, telling Silver this isn't who he is, and leaves.
Daniel goes to Johnny's apartment to try and work out their teaching differences, but neither is willing to compromise. They resolve to inform their students in the morning that they will be dissolving the duel dojo. The next day, the Cobra Kais show up and are faced with Robby, suited up to train them. They dismiss him, so he makes them a deal that if they can land one hit on him, he will leave. They attack him, and he blocks and defeats all of them using Miyagi-Do. Tory plays a trick and lands a hit, but asks him to stay and teach them.
Johnny and Daniel arrive at Miyagi-Do to tell their students the bad news, but find them all working together under Hawk to build an Okinawan-style sparring deck like the one he saw in Mr. Miyagi's artwork. Eli says he wants to make up for his past deeds by building bridges instead of burning them, which inspires Daniel and Johnny to give working together another shot.
That night, Terry Silver goes to get a bottle of wine from his cellar, and perfectly executes a karate kick into one of the bottles. He smiles, enjoying the feeling.
